drank Caramel Spice by DAVIDsTEA
516 tasting notes

This is a strange tea!
I’m thinking either you’re going to love it or HATE it, it’s one of those teas.

The dry smell is VERY citrusy – that’s the first warning haha. I didn’t expect so much orange, but then I thought maybe the inspiration for this tea are those clove-stuffed oranges some people hang in their homes for potpurri?

The taste is not as citrus-y, but it’s still the main component. I saw some strange fleshy things in the mix and got scared, then looked it up – I guess that’s what a freezedried mulberry looks like haha!

It has a hint of caramel and a perfect balance of spice. It’s not my favorite tea, to be honest, but I really think this will be a favorite for some and a loathe for others. I should note that I added a splash of cream&agave after the first few sips to mellow it out a little, but I love black/spiced tea with cream so that’s my weakness.

Just wanted to get out there that this is more of an orange spice tea than a caramel spice tea! There, my good deed is done for the day haha. Off to resteep.

Faith

Totally more orange than caramel, which is sad because I don’t really enjoy orangy tea… T_T

Daisy Chubb

I know right? Did you just get the 25g? I find it’s an alright one to have a bit of every once and a while. Like maybe once a month? haha. Or maybe a good gifting tea! I sent the rest of mine off to Alana in jolly ol england:)

drank Copabanana by DAVIDsTEA

I added this to my cupboard then realized I used it all to make a pitcher of iced tea so technically I’m out of it haha!

I’m having a cup of it hot while I wait for the rest to cool down. This is an interesting tea, it tastes like a weak banana-apple cider (weak not being a bad adjective, just in comparison with how strong apple cider is). I’m a fan of all of the ingredients in this unique herbal. [yay coconut!]

I can not wait to try it iced with a splash of rum. For a fall tea, I think it is made to be iced, but then that’s the point of this one in the collection isn’t it? To take you away to a tropical place while you wait for winter to set in n_-

It’s a nice fruity drink – love the banana chips in it! Give it a try if you like apple cider and bananas b^_^

Edit: yup it really shines cold! It’s super sweet with natural sweetness (just like me, HEYO)

drank Buttercream by DAVIDsTEA

This is indeed special.
I don’t quite know how to rate it yet, it’s sweet and tasty, and my boyfriend loveeees it.

I want to make cookies with this tea. Okay I must say, if anyone is thinking of ordering the fall collection of 25g per bag, do eet! You get so much of this tea, it’s light and white!

Such a creamy tea, which I don’t usually find in a white. Love it.

Jenn

I neeeeeed Butercream!!!!!!

Erin Hurley

I have way too much tea. Need to drink it all so I can buy more!

Cattibrie

I ordered earlier today. And the collection I found to order came with a steeping basket which is even better news. Can’t wait to get my teas tomorrow. Just have to hide them from hubby. ;)

Daisy Chubb

That’s awesome! I was pretty jealous of the online offer with the steeping basket, but for shipping costs, you guys deserve the steeping basket 100% :)

Daisy Chubb

oooh nvm free shipping good girl. You know 50 bucks ain’t so bad! I went to order from culinary teas and shipping cost more than my order… n_n; So I didn’t. haha

Cattibrie

I was at $35 and the shipping was $10 so I figured why not buy $15 more tea rather than pay $10 and get nothing. At least hubby pretends he sees the logic in that. LOL. I spend about $50 each time I am in the store and don’t get anything for that. Online at least I get samples.

Ta ta for now Buttered Rum, I shared the last 2 cups of you with my mom.
You were delish and I drank you every day, but now Punkin chai is here to take me away.
I will return, I won’t be long! eh I’m out of rhymes.

Awesome tea, will restock asap!
oops.

Cattibrie

Just ordered this one with the fall collection. Had to get to the $50 for free shipping and it has been on my list since the beginning.

drank Pumpkin Chai by DAVIDsTEA
516 tasting notes

OMG ITS SOOOO GOOD
New favorite tea omnomnomnommn
I get the box with 25g of each tea in it. eep excite!

This one is thick, in such a good way. Edit: Okay folks, this tea tastes like pumpkin. No fakes, no extract, it tastes like pure real pumpkin goodness.

I make my own pumpkin chai by steeping regular chai in milk and adding pumpkin spice & a can of pumpkin. This is totally on par, and way less work.

I actually can’t wait for fall so I can drink this all day every day. I can wait for winter, however.
Sigh what am I saying, I have to enjoy the hot weather while it lasts!!

(In Saskatchewan, where I live, the summers reach a high of +40 C and the winters a low of -50 C ) Convert that to F and then come talk to me. haha

Uniquity

I don’t like pumpkin and was so sad this tea came back again. I’m glad you like it though!!

Daisy Chubb

To be fair to both you and the tea, it is the only tea I haveever tried that actually DOES taste exactly like pumpkin!
The other teas in the fall collection smell AMAZING though, maybe one of them will make you even happier ^^

Erin Hurley

You added….. A CAN OF PUMPKIN?! Oh dammmm

Daddyselephant

Now for Halloween I want to roast a pumpkin in the oven and use it as a punch bowl. I see that ending in disaster, though.

Uniquity

You could use a pumpkin as a punch bowl if you didn’t roast it. It’d be less likely to fall apart on you. : )

Daisy Chubb

yes agreed! If you scrape it out deep it could be a good punchbowl. Just need a strong arm and a big spoon

Daddyselephant

But uncooked, wouldn’t it affect the taste weirdly?

Daisy Chubb

Probably! haha but when I think of a cooked pumpkin I think of when they sit on the counter and get all mushy. But I guess if you get all the meat out it would harden hey?

Daddyselephant

This calls for an experiment….

Uniquity

Uncooked would definitely be more firm and less likely to explode everywhere. If you let it dry a day or two, it seems like it might be less likely to affect the taste? I honestly don’t know!

Daddyselephant

I NEED A PUMPKIN. gets labcoat and crazy scientist goggles

Daisy Chubb

pictures or it didn’t happen >_> haha it’s not pumpkin season here yet but maybe I’ll give it a try for my Halloween party! As long as I don’t forget and carve a face in it first. I love carving punkins ^^

Daddyselephant

My wife does too, when I get one, I’ll have to hide it from her XD

Uniquity

I only buy one pumpkin a year and it is always for carving. Luckily, the beau likes to eat the seeds. He always wants me to make a pie, but I like to look at my carving too long and it tends to mold. Ugh!

Daddyselephant

I roasted my own pumpkin once, made a cheesecake with it, enjoyed it, and promptly went back to using canned pumpkin XD

Daisy Chubb

hahaha amen to that!
homemade pumpkin pie, delicious but way too much work.
I feel the same about thehomemade pecan pie I made. I spilled thick syrup all over my oven and floor and it tasted just like a bought pie. So eff that. I’m buying them from now on too.

Daddyselephant

Oh no, now, see, I’m from Tennessee. You don’t buy pecan pies. You just plain don’t. You make them from scratch or by god, you do without! XD

Daisy Chubb

haha I was hoping someone from the south would set me right!
Pecan pies aren’t something you find around here anyways, hey wait you’re in Canada now correct? Mind if I invite myself over a few provinces for pie? :)

Daddyselephant

XD Absolutely. Next time you’re in Toronto, let me know .

Daisy Chubb

I apologise for the store bought pies, I didn’t mean to shame the good pecan pie! I just shame the sticky floor and burnt sugar in my oven n_n

tigress_al

I live in Saskatchewan as well and I totally agree that this tea is awesome on a really cold day, especially as a latte!

MissMylin

Oh, a fellow Reginan – yay! (Although I like in soggy Vancouver now) I just had to add that this tea is awesome on a cold, sopping wet day as well :-)

Daisy Chubb

Yay hello fellow Reginan!
My bf and I were sooo close to moving to Vancouver too! Instead we’re moving to Halifax in 3 months. Yay no more -50 winters :D

Uniquity

Whoa. Moving to Halifax, you say? It’s not so bad here, though very rainy in the last few years. Welcome (almost!) to the Maritimes!!

Daisy Chubb

ee thanks! I’m definitely looking forward to a change of environment (although I will miss the land of living skies)

Living in Winnipeg I can feel your winter/summer pain.

Cold brewed this for today with some Belgian Chocolate rooibos
It’s like a roobibos party in my mouth, and everyone’s invited. Or maybe just me.
Either way… TASTY!

Jenn

Ha! What does one wear to a rooibos party in someone else’s mouth?

Daisy Chubb

Bells mostly. Yep, yes.. mostly bells.

drank Kiwi Lime Ginger by Tea Forte
516 tasting notes

Backlogging..

SO I wasn’t a fan of this one. I didn’t want to write the review really, haha, so I’ll keep it short and sweet! Again, a huge thanks to Tea Forte for the extremely generous samples.

For me, being a ginger, I love ginger. It’s in my blood :D Anyways, I do love ginger. The ginger in this wasn’t enough for me, it didn’t tingle really and I could hardly taste it – although I knew it was there. I liked the dry smell, very limey and fruity, but it was almost too “thick” for me, even after a short steep. Maybe if it was a bit more tart it would have ‘fit’ better, I’m no expert though haha!

Not tasty pour moi, and I only have one tea forte sample left! Wish me luck :)

Not my fave! To be fair, it was the first tea I’ve had from the store that they oversteeped. My DT is is really good for steeping their iced teas just right, but hey.
I like the spearmint more, this one is a punch to the face of mint – which is awesome when you’re in the mood for it!

I love my peppermint teas with milk, so I’ll try it again and give it a better rating once I’ve had it hot. b^_^

My first Milk Oolong :)

It’s delicious. But I can’t rate it yet, because I don’t really know what’s going on in my mouf. I didn’t know what to expect to be honest, even after reading every single review.

It is buttery, creamy, milky and very spinachy on the first steep. (2.5 min)

I really don’t know what’s going on, but I do know that I like it. Just perplexed! Like nothing I’ve ever tried before.

EDIT: Second Steep (3.5 m)- yep, even better than the first, as is the consensus. Even creamier, mm it’s sweeter too. But I still don’t understand! I’ll just sip.

Cattibrie

spinachy? I may have to get 10g and try this on the weekend.

Daisy Chubb

10 g will last you all weekend and more :D

Ashley Bain

lol! cute review.

Jenn

Always trust your mouf :)

Yes. This is the tea for me.
I didn’t get a lot, if any, of fruity chunks like in the photo up there, but frankly I don’t care.
because dry, I smell BLACKCURRANT. Ever had Fruitips? Best candy ever. Smells just like that. I oversteeped a bit, but I also don’t care. Because DANG it’s good tea!

The bergamot is not overpowering at all, in fact it’s barely there, dancing with the black currant essence. I suggest a first steep closer to the 4 min side than the 6 minute side.

It’s sweet in the smell like candy but not too sweet in the taste. It’s perfect! (for me, disclaimer. haha)

This would be a totally different experience with a splash of cream and agave. Like berries and cream. yes. Next cup!

My favourite tea companies are DavidsTea and Verdant Tea. They please my palette in different ways – and I love them both for it.
