Thanks Mercuryhime for letting me try this tea!

I have to agree with the consensus, that the strawberry flavour comes almost exclusively with the aftertaste, and takes a back seat to the strong floral notes of the white tea. It’s nice though, reminds me a lot of David’s Strawberry White, but I prefer this one. I got to watch it unravel in my Steeper and the leaves were huge! What a treat :D

A huuuge thanks to Mercuryhime for this yumtastic tea!

My first taste of full on loose-leaf harney and sons and it is so delicious. I found the flavour a bit light, but I used the whole sample in my very large bodum travel mug so I’m guessing that’s why. I’m looking forward to ordering this asap.

There is no astringency, the tea is extremely smooth. The tea has a nice depth with the chocolate and hazelnut – I can’t think of a better simple dessert tea that delivers exactly what it promises.

Mercuryhime

I’m so glad you liked it! It was a present to my husband the first Christmas we were dating because I wanted to share my love of tea with him while combining it with his love for chocolate, but he hasn’t touched the tin since the day I made him a cup from it. I just can’t get the man to like tea. So sad. I’m glad someone is finally enjoying it. :)

Daisy Chubb

Aw, that’s okay – more tea for you!
Yesss I love it! Thank you – it’s more convincing (like I need more) that I need to make that fated H&S order :D

Yummmmehs!

So I participated in a tea swap, you may have seen the thread in Discussions – http://gussyingupthetuttle.blogspot.com/2011/08/3rd-annual-tea-trade.html

I got this tea, and a bunch of Zhena samplers, and a sweet Chinese cold & flu tea! So I am happeee! I can’t wait to respond back to my secret trader with a thank you package :)

Ah good times.

This tea is lovely. I am not one to turn down an intriguing bagged tea, and this one does not disappoint. It has a similar smell of ManTeas Mayan Chocolate Chai, but without the cayenne, which is great because I’ve been looking for a chocolate chai with a little less… throat on fire. haha!

The taste is a bit mellow, but I can dig that. I like that it’s rooibos and I’m having it at night, and it’s PERFECT with a splash of chocolate almond milk.

Happy lady here.

Edit:: So I’ve really been toying around with the idea of hosting a monthly secret-santa style tea swap, with a different theme every month. Do you think monthly is too often? Maybe a seasonal trade, 4 times a year? I LOVE the organization of events like this, but I wonder if I could get enough membership. Heck, even 5 people is enough for me. Any takers?

LiberTEAS

I’d be interested in the swap. :)

SimplyJenW

Considering it. Seasonal would be better.

Dinosara

There’s a thread on the discussions that was just started by TheDJBooth (“Trick or Treat Tea”) about a possible halloween swap… I think you would possibly get takers for a seasonal swap if you posted on the discussions. I’d probably be in too!

Angrboda

I think monthly would be too much. Four times a year or just every second month sounds better to me. I might sign up for something liek that, but probably not every time.

Daisy Chubb

Thanks guys! Yes, I agree monthly would be way too much – the teas probably wouldn’t even have reached their destination by then! :D Thanks very much for your input, I’m definitely going to consider this in the new year, because there will probably be a secret santa swap in the mean time, plus a possible halloween one like you said Dino, but I will keep it on the burner. Oh yes. :D

SimpliciTEA

I’m interested in doing a seasonal swap, also.

Daisy Chubb

Noted :) I will get something set up for sure in the coming months. Prizes and contests and tea trades oh my!

Babble

Aha! So this is where the idea was born ;)

reviewed The Steeper by DAVIDsTEA

This is bliss.

Pretty much the IngenuiTEA, but I could buy it at my store so I did.
$20.
No leaks, delicious tea, no plasticy flavour even from first use! I like it.

Very easy to clean as well, Just a rinse will do, or you can get all grabby and take out parts, but you don’t have to do it every time that’s for sure. Love.

Cattibrie

I want one of these. My cousin has one and she loves it.

Daisy Chubb

So far it’s flawless, and it’s cheap enough! I bought this one with a birthday gift card, so if you even have a giftcard then it’s def worth it haha n_-

Indigobloom

Only problem I’ve found is that after awhile it collects tea grime. I’ve been meaning to pick up some bleach to clean my Teaopia version

Eisenherz

Thanks for reviewing this, I had been wondering for a while whether this was as wonderful as advertised for such a low price… I’ll definitely get my hands on one now!

Daisy Chubb

For sure! The price is right my dears. Still so far so good. It’s like a magic trick to my friends and family haha!

Plunkybug

I just got this to replace my old IngenuiTea that I got from Adagio eons ago. It had begun to leak, and then someone left it in the sink while it was backed up with vacuum dust in the water. Ew. At least that finally forced me into replacing it. I like that the strainer at the bottom comes out; it didn’t on my old one. So far, so good, but just a month in use thus far.

MissMylin

I got this as a birthday present a few months ago. Up until then I was using a Takeya tea maker, but now this is all I use for making tea at home. I live alone so the Steeper makes just the right amount for me :-)

drank Carrot Cake by DAVIDsTEA
516 tasting notes

Sooo I finally got around to trying this today!
And sadly it is not for me (I took it off my shopping list haha)

There are a few things as to why it’s not good for me though, and it might mean that it’s a good tea for you!
First of all, it was a “to go” tea, but it didn’t taste burnt or bitter so , meh who knows!
Second, it does taste like carrot cake.

BUT

Not the kind of carrot cake I like. haha. I’m a bit picky when it comes to my carrot cake. It has to have pineapple for yummy moistness, and most importantly, cream cheese icing. Without the cream cheese, it’s just like a spice cake to me, which is the hugest “meh” taste to me – for whatever reason.

So on that note, it tastes like carrot cake. But not MY carrot cake. Aren’t I special haha! Blame my grandma for instilling C-Cake tradition in me n_-

nomadinjeopardy

I like this tea, but I definitely hear you on the cream cheese icing. I think everything should be slathered in cream cheese icing, really.

Jenn

NOOOOOO! I ordered Carrot Cake in my last possible divorce causing DAVIDs order. You and I are like taste twins and that means that I may not like this on either. Oh man…

Daisy Chubb

Don’t despair just yet!!
It’s still a huge possibility that they steeped it wrong and bad in the store. Also I haven’t had a chance to try it with cream, which might take it over the top… don’t worry Jenn! :)

@Jessie – Yes pls. Cream cheese icing slathered world.

Plunkybug

I too, got this as a to-go tea, and was unimpressed..however, I do find that the to-go teas are considerably weaker than the way I make them, and I bet, as a latte with foamy milk, that might just be the thing. I am tempted to get maybe 25-30g of this, as I have been tempted by the seasonal tin (not like I have any space to store it though).

I enjoyed this tea very much, but I love to share things when I enjoy them… i love to see other people happy with tasty tea. So I gave the rest away to my bestie after we made a pot tonight and she loved it! :D

She’s the only friend I hang out with regularly who shares a tea obsession, mostly due to David’s Tea. And so, with my last sips, I fondly bid this tea farewell until I win the lottery and make every tea order I’ve ever wanted to make the end.

mmm I am loving this. Thank you Jenn for this sample, and the others, because I found something I love! Not this tea in general, but fruit flavoured teas from 52teas. I’m not a fan of their blacks, but their flavoured herbals and greens ohhh I am in heaven! So thank you!

This tea is a little light on flavour, but I think that’s my fault for picking my hugest glass mug. It’s still delicious, I’m getting a creamy raspberry syrup taste that is such a delight before bed. And the smell both dry and steeped is amazing. Mmm.

I’ll be keeping my eyes out for this one next reblend. b^_^

This tea is legit.
My goodness.
I can’t stop sipping it and looking at the picture and the melting butter and gaaaah – thank you butter flavour!
Mmmm it’s good. I’m going to throw a bit of roasted mate and chocolate chips in my next cup to make a choco-chip banana bread that will keep me awake this friday night.

Very happy friday! All the other reviews are spot on, so I won’t repeat. I’ll just enjoy.

My favourite tea companies are DavidsTea and Verdant Tea. They please my palette in different ways – and I love them both for it.
