Why can’t I stop thinking about buying this beautiful machine? Why must it haunt my dreams? I think I may need it … N E E D it!!!!

Update: I now own this this glorious machine and I love it! I don’t have a single complaint.

QuiltGuppy

You need it. ;)
I love mine and use it every single day.

Jenn

Not helping :)

Indigobloom

when I get my own place, this will be one of my first investments! haven’t got the space now… *sighs
It’s one of my biggest motivators! lol

Jenn

I tried to convince my husband to agree to my ripping out our microwave in order to make room for a dehydrator. That didn’t work so I have just decided to embrace appliance mayhem. I have my eye on an ice-cream maker and a whipped filling injector as well. Embrace the mayhem :)

Indigobloom

ah I intend to! eventually… but the ’rents are not so tolerant of my tea ocd as Steepster folks :)

LiberTEAS

fingers crossed I hope to order my breville (finally) in a week or two.

Jenn

Indigobloom, ahhh roomates. I tolerate action figures and an entire room dedicated to video games, so certain husbands have to suck it up when it comes to my tea OCD ;)

Jenn

LiberTEAS, you’re a lucky gal! May I ask where you’d be buying it from ? The best price I found was through Williams Sonoma at $245.

LiberTEAS

If I order it by 7/4/11 I’ll be ordering it from Samovar, because I have the $50 gift certificate for them (otherwise, I’ll have to spend that on tea!) If not, then we will probably go to Sur La Table in Portland and pick one up (or possibly Williams Sonoma).

Indigobloom

Jenn: that’s not such a bad deal! Then again, I don’t mind action figures lol
—Mum actually thinks that all this loose leaf is killing my immune system cuz it’s not regulated and who knows what they put in there! Oi….

Jenn

Indigobloom, mothers find the strangest things to worry about! My mother-in-law gave me a bit of fertility advice the other day. Apparently, all of my moving around (working out) isn’t helping me get pregnant and I need to eat a steak. sigh

Indigobloom

oh dear… well, if you like steak, it IS tasty! not sure how it goes with tea though. Maybe a nice Lapsang? :P
They say Mothers know best… but in this case, I’m too much in love (w/ tea) to care!!

I decided to give this tea another try this morning, and it’s just on the meah side of okay. I don’t taste cherry or vanilla, but the black tea isn’t completely objectionable. I drank it. I don’t care to drink it again anytime soon.

I feel a little guilty about my run of negative Republic of Tea reviews lately. I really do think that they have some good blends, I just haven’t been drinking any of those lately :/

drank Cocomama Lime by DAVIDsTEA

I received this tea as sample with my David’s Tea order. I tried it hot and that may have been a mistake. I really don’t detect much of a coconut flavor which is odd because the tea to coconut ratio looks to be nearly even in the dry tea. Also, the lime tastes a bit bitter to me. The black tea is nice and almost understated, but then I come back to a bitter lime rind aftertaste.

I’m a HUGE David’s Tea fan, but this one s not one of my favorites. Sorry David…

Daddyselephant

Yeah, I don’t care for this one either, but I always feel a little guilty about not liking a tea from Davids. They introduced me to tea and I love so many of their teas XD.

MaddHatter

When I first had this tea (as a take away tea) I thought it was over steeped… I found it slightly bitter and almost burnt. The second time I made it myself I only steeped it two minutes and it still was not great, it is not my go to tea for sure, but some what enjoyable.

Jenn

LadyKittyKat, I’ve only recently discovered David’s Teas, but I feel indebted to Mr. David in the same way you do. A company that produces so many taste bud pleasing flavor home runs is bound to produce one or two that don’t suite me. I guess it’s not all about me :)

Jenn

Erin, I love that David’s Tea is so generous with the samples! I wish that I could have brewed it at least one more time to see if I might have over steeped it etc. Alas, I think it was a limited addition spring tea anyway. My sample had fallen behind my Vitamix and I only just recovered it today, and it’s always fun to try something new.

MaddHatter

I think it is a permentant tea, I bought it late May? Or maybe they hadn’t run out yet?

Daddyselephant

Erin, nope, it was a spring tea, they just still have a lot in stock. (because it’s gross >.>)

Jenn

Ladykittykat, your comment made me laugh aloud like a crazy person! I needed that this morning :)

Daddyselephant

Always glad to help ;)

MaddHatter

Oh, wow… if it’s only intended to be seasonal, then left over stock say’s it all… I hope that is not the same case for “Movie Night”

Jenn

Movie Night is now a permanent part of the David’s Tea collection, so no worries about it being only seasonal. I love Movie Night :)

So, I’ve continued drinking this tea hoping that it may grow on me. Nope. I actually dislike it the more I drink it. I’m pouring the rest of the iced tea out because I’m done. DONE!

Today I have hangover. I’m not proud but I am dehydrated. I’ve been drinking green rooibos tea all day to replenish my stupid self, but then I rememberd that I purchased Meyer Lemon Black Tea from The Republic of Tea few days ago. I love, love, love Meyer lemons so the idea of trying this new tea really lifted my spirits.

First, I’m pissed off at myself for not noticing that this isn’t a loose leaf tea, but rather four large tea bags meant only for iced tea brewing. That aside, I love iced tea and it’s warm outside so I still had hope that I may love this tea.

Alas, I don’t love this tea. I was hoping for a clean, slightly sweet lemon flavor with a nice black tea finish. Nope. This tea has a slight lemon flavor with a perfumy (not floral) aftertaste. I don’t mind, and I actually expected, a slight floral essence like orange blossom for instance. However, this tea has an artifical perfume taste that I just don’t care for.

All of this being said, I don’t hate this tea either. I’m willing to drink the rest of the pitcher with the hope that it may grow on me. I prefer to love a tea from the first taste, but I’m just a romantic that way :)

I need a nap! Weekday drinking THE END.

drank Movie Night by DAVIDsTEA

Backlogging… I just love this tea! I’m so glad that David’s Tea has made it a permanent part of their tea selection.

MaddHatter

No kidding, right?!

I wish it was herbal, because it would make a fabulous edition to movie days with my kids at work!

It’s a very gloomy and rainy day today. And it’s cold! Well, LA cold anyway. I have the fireplace on and I’m craving a rich delicious comforting black tea for a bit of an afternoon pick-me-up.

I purchased this tea in November of last year and my tin is still nearly full. I couldn’t remember if there was some reason that I hadn’t been drinking this tea all winter long. This tea has two of my favorite flavor components, maple and nutty goodness.

Unfortunately, this tea isn’t great because there’s no real flavor to it at all. It’s a reasonably tasty black tea with a slight (very slight) touch of maple. Disappointing! I mixed a heaping tsp. of maple butter and lots of almond milk into the tea, and that made it taste okay. In reality, I’m really just drinking a warm cup of sweetened almond milk. Humph.

I first bought this tea a year ago and I now buy it in the bulk bag. It’s fantastic iced, and I can easily drink an entire pitcher of this tea a day in the summer.

This green rooibos tea has a light fresh flavor with a slight sweetness from the plantain, and there’s a lovely coconut finish. Plantain and coconut are an obvious winning combination. This may be my all time favorite iced tea.

TeaBrat

I love coconut, might need to try this one

I’m brewing up a simple black tea this morning for breakfast as well as for kombucha. I’m behind on my brewing and I need to get back on the booch! I think I’ll make lemon ginger, sour cherry, and strawberry mint with this brew batch. My friend recommended the strawberry mint combo and I can’t wait to try it. If you’ve never brewed your own kombucha, I highly recommend you give it a try.

QuiltGuppy

How do you make your kombucha? Although I’ve tasted it before, I’ve never actually brewed it myself.

Jenn

It’s actually pretty easy to brew. You’ll need a scoby culture to get started, and I’d be happy to send you one of mine with a little starter kit. I bloged about the brewing process here: http://bit.ly/jhPfCJ . I can send you a list with specific measurements if you like. The first brewing process can take from a week to a month depending on your taste. Then you can add flavor if you like in a secondary fermentation that I explain here: http://bit.ly/jhPfCJ Someone was kind enough to get me started brewing kombucha, and I’d be thrilled to pay it forward if you’re interested :)

Jenn

CRAP! Please disregard the second link in my post above. This is the real link to the secondary fermentation process: http://bit.ly/9GRhWr Sorry about that.

QuiltGuppy

Mmm… fat Elvis donuts… I don’t think that’s the link you intended, but it sounds like the right link to me! ;) I am interested in trying this. I usually buy kombucha at Whole Foods, but sometimes it doesn’t taste so great.

Jenn

Ha! Okay, so I’m having some problems with my URL shortener today. If you click on one of the crazy links, just go to recipes and seach for kombucha and the posts will pop up. Homebrew is far better tasting than the store bought versions in my opinion because you control the flavor. Say the word and I’ll happily send you a scoby and a starter kit :)

So delicious! The name says it all…this green roobios is indeed fruity. This is my ideal antioxidant packed daytime tea. You can actually see the bits of dried fruit in the tea, and I love the flavorful punch they pack. Yum!!!!!
