drank Red Velvet Cake by DAVIDsTEA

A temptation that I just couldn’t resist in Harvest Tin form. It has a wonderful aroma and does remind the senses well of the actual cake. In both dry form and when it is brewed. Much like the other cake teas did for their match all the way up to the cute sprinkles. The flavor is very rich and mellow with just the right notes of sweetness. Just like a hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream only a little more milder. Between this and Chocolate cake I’d probably say that this one is a bit more creamier than the other with its more complex nuances. I will definitely be drinking more of this one or stock up if its a limited edition.

Had this tea for my birthday on the 10th and it was a perfect fit for the evening.Very maple-like in its syrupy sweetness and just what I needed. Especially for the first of the late night management seminar classes. Thank you DAVIDs for providing a treat like this tea for all those special moments.

drank Southern Belle by DAVIDsTEA
75 tasting notes

After a nice long evening soak the allure of something sweet called out to me. The winner this night was “Southern Belle”. I first came across this one in the last fall collection. It still captures me with its intoxicating peachy perfume. The taste is quite similar to enjoying a bowl of fresh orchard peach slices with a dollop of whipped cream. Like with many dessert teas the flavors are enhanced nicely while hot. I have tried this cold during dance rehearsals as a refresher too and it works wonderfully to perk the spirits. I can see how it fits the image of September, the tea is the perfect representation of the transition between the seasons. Not too bad at all. Delish!

Lucy

I agree! Well put.. it is the perfect representation of the transition between seasons =)

drank Salted Caramel by DAVIDsTEA

A lovely autumn night and the full moon is still shining bright casting its soothing glow over all. Much like the taste and scent of this tea. The sweet concoction of toffee, caramel and sweet coconut is balanced nicely by the sea salt. It can also be said that the sea salt enhances these sweet flavors. The nice perk of these candy based teas is that they are guilt-free and allow people to give into their beloved sweet temptations. Way to seduce the tea-drinker’s further, eh? The scent alone is enough to be a magnetic draw, it’s like being in the kitchen while these treats are being made. Wonderful.

I loooove the scent of the dry leaf.

tigress_al

Even the scent of the brewed tea filling the kitchen is wonderful!

Cassie Eng

To Incendiare: Much agreed there. It’s so deep, dark and rich.
To Tigress_Al: It’s definitely a comfort and soothing to say the least. I love the evening’s when I brew this particular one.

drank Buddha's Blend by DAVIDsTEA
75 tasting notes

After a day spent at the annual Saanich Fair checking out the harvest splendors, artisan craft exhibits, midway games and the toasty warm cinnamon doughnuts it was only fitting to wind down with a cup of tea. The one on the top of the list was Buddha’s Blend with its fresh peachy flavor notes. I can only assume that the combination of jasmine and white hibiscus resonate to create the essence of peach for there is no peach to be found in the ingredients. I admit that is a rather magical effect to say the least as well as very delicious.

The wonderful floral perfume is rejuvinating to the spirits and has an unmistakable warmth which works well for those who love their floral teas. Not to mention as well as drinking these romantic offerings while reading romantic literature set in a historical period. A pleasure I do admit to indulging in, especially on moonlit evenings such as tonight. I hope whatever books you all enjoy that this tea accompanies those reading sessions at least a few times. It’s well worth it.

drank Indian Summer by DAVIDsTEA

The eve of the Saanich Fair brings with it a chance to try this new white tea. The scent is refreshing and sweet. I would describe this as a more natural fruit punch without all the sugar and chemicals of the ones on the market. It tastes nice warm but no doubt it would work just as well on ice. The more I drink it the more delicious the notes are and perks the spirit, all I need is one of those little drink umbrellas and I’m set. Cheers!

Fjellrev

I didn’t even know about the Saanich Fair! I’m enjoying this one too.

It’s well worth the visit and an enjoyable way of spending the Labor Day weekend for certain. There’s a little something for everyone to experience. Kinda like this tea~.

drank Banana Nut Bread by DAVIDsTEA
75 tasting notes

As I enjoyed the silky warm tones of Michael Buble and a relaxing manicure this evening I was tempted to try this nostalgic herbal. The scent definitely lives up to its name and I was transported to late autumn in the kitchen baking banana bread. A little more than I had for “Snow Bunny” I have to admit. The taste is also reminicent of the hearty baked good and I almost forgot that I wasn’t actually consuming a slice. Haha. I don’t drink banana teas that often but this could make me want to drink more.

I was also pleased to see currants in the blend for I have been making a lot of currant butter sauce with the local fresh currants as of late(now that the short season’s over you can guess that I won’t be doing this much more). The currant’s tart quality somehow warms the sweetness of the bananas in this blend and balances this sweetness out to a more comforting level.

A warm early autumn day just right for a bit of sprucing up the garden. It was after all the work was done did I decide to try this new blend. The lovely fragrance of roses gives this tea a perfume-like quality. The pistachios and almonds offer a tender warmth that tantalize the taste-buds from head to toe. The apple does provide just the right note in the background to add that token sweetness but doesn’t overwhelm. When the flavors meld together it definitely provides that picture of a romantic afternoon with its exquisite taste and fragrance. As someone who enjoys roses I was definitely left with a pleasant feeling after drinking this tea.

drank Pumpkin Chai by DAVIDsTEA
75 tasting notes

If you want a picture of what the autumn season is all about this is no doubt one of the places to start. The sweet deep flavor of pumpkin pie in a mug that is the best way of describing it. The spices and little pumpkin candies make this a very endearingly warm tea that begs to be savored slowly to get every nuance out of it. The scent itself is very alluring even to passerby’s who ask what the tea is. No matter the season this tea just fits perfectly for a “pick me up”.

As a lover of cinnamon teas I’d rank this as a mellower version of Glitter and Gold, my first favorite tea. The sweetness of the miniature marshmallows provides that special boost for the allspice and cinnamon in this black/green tea blend. I could see myself taking this along with me in my travel mug throughout the season as I strolled through the nearby golf course trail while enjoying the vivid changing leaves. To say nothing of the feeling that would envelop inside when the smell of chimney smoke began lingering on the brisk autumn air. The tea would be even more wonderful. A well recommended addition that I do hope will become a permanent part of the menu at DAVIDs.

Great review! I can’t wait to try it :)

Thanks for the compliment. I look forward to hearing what you think of the blend. o

drank Mom's Apple Pie by DAVIDsTEA
75 tasting notes

The day after the first rainshower in a long time and to celebrate the coming of Autumn I felt that one of the best ways was to have a pot of the delectable “Mom’s Apple Pie”. The notes of cinnamon and apples accented in harmony with the green tea just paint the vivid image of a day picking apples in the orchard. Or a day at the Autumn fair spent enjoying the farm’s bountiful harvest. It is the fragrance that makes the most impact for the tea and inspires the heart to go and do some baking in the kitchen with those fresh delicious apples!
