drank Da Hong Pao by Harney & Sons

So this is the first tasting note form the steepster select October box. I was so excited that I quickly grabbed the gaiwan and heated some water. Warmed the gaiwan and proceed. It has a very nice amber color. Rght off the back I catch the fruitiness from the smell. When tasting it a little nuttiness came through, but mostly the fruit took center stage. Nice;)

drank Detox by BourgeaTEA

Soo…I’m not really a fan of Pu-erh tea ,but I barley notice the taste of it in this detox mix. I love the lemon myrtle, juniper and the ginger in the mix. I have been drinking it every other day, for the flavor but not for the “detox” benefits. I feel good afterwards, but I also feel good after a good oolong as well. I would buy this again. It was a great price to I bought this and the green chai together for I think $16 plus they threw in some nice samples.

drank Lucari Chai by BourgeaTEA

yum…Im now slowly moving into more green tea. I’m a huge chai fan, and will try almost any type of chai. This is a nice familiar taste when looking into my green tea section of the cabinet. It has a nice spice to it with a vegetal taste backing it. After reading a few reviews and watching the TeaShow episode I knew that the pineapple is not really pronounced like you would think it would be. I still enjoyed this tea a great deal. It is the first tea I have had that already has sugar added to it. With a teaspoon and a half it was not too sweet. It was just right :)

drank Yerba Mate by Samovar
138 tasting notes

When I first opened the sample packet it smell of rolled oats. After brewing it the smell of oats intensified but with the added grassiness. When tasting it I get the grassiness wright off the bat followed by the oatmeal taste. The licorice root follows soon after with a bit of sweetness. This is an acquired taste for sure. I would not mind drinking this with a hot muffin or scone. In the past I have always had a lemon or berry variation of yerba mate. It was nice to go old school with almost nothing added to it, just straight.
I will say that it gave me a nice shot of energy.

drank Jasmine Pearl by Samovar

Wow! Just opened the sample packet, smells amazing. I used my duck eggshell gaiwan and filled it with 12 pearls. Nice and sweet. In the past I have had blends with jasmine pearls in them, but never buy themselves. Samovar is in the lead for being my favorite tea place.

drank Orange Ginger by Samovar
138 tasting notes

This is a very light herbal from Samovar. I’m used to them being a little heavy on the hibiscus or licorice root that they use as a base or to “sweeten”. With some of their other herbals the licorice can sometimes over power the tea. With this herbal it does not over power. This tea reminds me of my Aunt when I was little. She would always cut up some fresh ginger root and lemon peel and simmer it on the stove for hours. It would make the whole house smell great. I swear that just the smell would help me get rid of the cold that I had. This tea taste just like it without the ginger BURN in your throat and chest. Although I do like the BURN…:)

drank Vanilla Blossoming by Samovar

This tea is very simple. Yunnan tea and vanilla bean=amazing. I have had black tea and vanilla bean before that did not taste like this. I guess it is the quality of Samovar’s ingredients. This is a tea that you can give to almost anyone and they will like it :)

drank Papayarama by DAVIDsTEA

So this is the last of my samples from Davidstea. I could taste more of the lime and other citrus flavors over the papaya. I thought it should have been a tad bit sweet. I had it hot, since I’m really not a ice tea person.

drank Blazing Strawberries by DAVIDsTEA

I received this as a sample with my purchase. I was uber excited because I have never had a tea with bamboo leaves. I was a bit disappointed. I had only one piece of strawberry and one red peppercorn. It was pretty weak. I guess I just did not get a good sample.

drank Luscious Watermelon by DAVIDsTEA
138 tasting notes

This is a great summer tea. I received a sample of this with my order from last week. The dried smell was the smell of sweet melons. When I brewed it it smelled distinctly like watermelon. As I took a sip I could taste the honeydew more then watermelon. It is a change from what I have ben drinking lately. Usually if I have an herbal it is rooibos, or it has a lot of hibiscus in it. I know this would be great as an ice tea. Sadly I’m not a big fan of herbal ice teas….but this might be a good one.
