128 Tasting Notes
Water: 12oz
Leaves: 1 leaf
Measuring Spoon: no
Steep: 3m
Aroma: n/a didn’t notice
Color: Light green
Clarity: Great
Taste: This was my first time working with stevia so i played it safe by only using 1 leaf to test if it would deliver any sweetness. I got a pretty light green color but it tasted nice but lacked sweetness lol. I’m going to try again with more leaves to see how I can make a nice sweetener.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tea bag
Measuring Spoon: no
Steep: 5m
Aroma: apple, citrus
Color: Ruby Red
Clarity: Great
Taste: I spotted this tea for the first time a few days ago to at trader Joe’s. Seeing it again for the 2nd time I decided to give it a try. The packaging of this tea was different as the individual envelopes that contained the tea bags were clear. The aroma from the dry bag wasn’t that fragrant. As for steeping when the water was poured over it gradually released a ruby red hue, accompanied by a apple/citrus aroma. The clarity was great as i could see the bottom of my cup. As for the taste it’s more so tart than anything, no real flavor really stood out, simply hot tart water with a rich color. I most likely won’t will be reaching for a second cup.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tea bag
Measuring Spoon: no
Steep: 5m
Aroma: Tropical
Color: Medium Amber
Clarity: Great
Taste: I had picked this tea up a few weeks ago at my local Sprouts b/c it was buy one get one free sale & I had a coupon! I hadn’t tried many Stash teas, so it was nice to add 2 new ones to my collection. Upon opening the packet the scent was amazing it only became even more apparent when i added hot water. The color was medium amber color with great clarity,no cloudiness. As for the taste it was light with a very slight bitterness. I didn’t really pick up on the mango or coconut but overall a very nice cup. Even without a bold flavor the aroma itself makes drinking a cup even more enjoyable.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tea bag
Measuring Spoon: no
Steep: 5m
Aroma: Citrus
Color: reddish brown
Clarity: slightly cloudy
Taste:Wow, I haven’t done one of these in a while. I picked up this individual tea packet at my local British shop (I live in the US). I never tried a Taylors Of Harrogate Tea, so i thought why not at only $.50. Opening the foil packet I noticed the tea bag is quite large, bigger than your typical bag. The aroma of the steeped cup was citrus accompanied by a reddish brown hue.I let the cup go for 5 minutes as for the taste it was very bitter difficult to drink with out making a face. To see if this cup could be helped I added a packet honey pearls. It helped to greatly reduce the amount of bitterness without altering the flavor profile but not add much sweetness.Overall I didn’t enjoy this tea which also left a dry mouth feel once I finished my cup.
*update: I took the same used tea bag a steeped it in about 2 cups of water & it was much better than the first cup & very light in flavor with no bitterness.
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tea bag
Measuring Spoon: no
Steep: 4m
Aroma: Peppery,Sweet/floral?
Color: Deep reddish brown
Clarity: a faint cloudiness
Taste: This was my first Earl Grey experience, pouring the water over the tea bag i notices a slight peppery aroma. After steeping the aroma had changed to a more Sweet/floral one, it’s quite interesting since i don’t think I’ve come across a tea like this scent wise. The color was a deep reddish brown with a bit of cloudiness but i could still see threw my cup. As for taste i found it to be a bit bitter as for the overall flavor profile it was tough to pinpoint exactly & leaves a dry mouth feel. Overall not the worst or best tea I’ve tried, it’s just okay.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tea bag
Measuring Spoon: no
Steep: 3m & 6m
Aroma: Gingery
Color: light golden yellow
Clarity: a faint cloudiness
Taste: I was very excited when i spotted this brand at Earth Fare over the weekend! Lately i’ve been hearing a lot about turmeric & ginger from vegan youtubers i follow. So when i saw this tea i got even more excited, it was also on sale for $3.99 instead of the reg $6.99 so i thought why not give it a try. As for steeping i tried using my new nutchello tumbler from Silk & let the bag steep for 3min. The tea was very light, no bitterness i didn’t get a hint of ginger or pepper w/ a faint cloudiness i think it came from when i dunked my tea bag back and forth. I’m thinking the tumbler i used didn’t give the bag much room. i’m going to try it again with my usual tea mug & a steep time of 6 minutes with the same tea bag. (later i will try it with a new one). With this cup the color was darker but the taste remained light. Overall and okay tea with great health benefits which is a plus.
Update:
If you all are wonder why i haven’t been blogging lately it’s because I have a lot of tea in my collection that i have reviewed already. I need to work on drinking them before i get new teas.
Update 2!
This tea is great i get more flavor from it now when i steep it for a much longer time than recommended! It’s way better compared to before & i even notice the black pepper in it now. I could see myself buying it again.
Preparation
Water: 16oz
Leaves: Large long flat medium green leaves
Measuring Spoon: no
Steep: 2m
Aroma: Vegetable
Color: light yellow
Clarity: great
Taste:The first thing i noticed with this tea was the packaging was a dull silver color as compared to the usual shiny silver packets. Upon opening the leaves were long & flat with a vegetable aroma. Since this tea is to big for a spoon measure i went to the website and decided to go with 15 leaves. The instruction were quite different as i pour a bit of the water into my french press first gently swirling it for 30s before adding the rest of the water. The steep was rather short at only 2m. Due to the wideness of the press my leaves didn’t stand up as in the photo. Overall flavor was light i will be going back and making another cup. Before making this cup i had a short Blogilates workout and did a 1m Bad Yogi meditation.
This wraps up my 2016 Spring tea reviews!

Taste: From reading my reviews over time I’m sure many of you know how much i enjoy dragon well tea! It’s always seems to be top shelf favorite no matter what variety or when it’s picked. This is the first time i’m trying a She Qian Long Jin which from the website states " picked shortly after the buds sprout". the scent was noticeable even when i only opened the silver packer a little bit.I allowed the the to steep for a little over 3 minutes. The taste was surprising as this was the first time i’ve had any bitterness in a dragon well tea. The bitterness lasted throughout the cup leaving an after taste on the tongue. I then looked at the website then at the instructions on the silver packet. I found that the problem was there was a misprint the packet stated to brew it at “185 degrees” while on the website it said “176 degrees”. This goes to show how important it is to have the proper temperature when making a tea. I’m going to have to try it again later with the right water temperature. With the bitterness noted this was an okay cup not as great as the other dragon wells considering the incorrect instructions.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: medium green flat semi-long leave
Measuring Spoon: no
Steep: 3m
Aroma: faint/vegetable
Color: light yellow
Clarity: great
Taste: I decided to have this tea after dinner in which this time i had instant curry over rice. For this as with the previous tea (although not mentioned) i added new steps into the brewing process, i took pictures of the dry leaf, wet leaf & cup to show a more visual aspect in what i do. I also posted it on my instagram in a collage form to make it easier to see all at once. The aroma coming from the dry leaf was faint and difficult to detect. the wet steeped leaf bought out a vegetable aroma. In terms of taste i didn’t notice much although i was able to finish my cup & went back for a second.
*update
I decided to add a measuring spoon section to my reviews instead of always typing out rather or not the leaves fit with in the main review.
