1758 Tasting Notes

This tea has fairly strong notes of camphor and spice. There is also a fair amount of fermentation flavor to it. Behind all that I think is a sweet note. This is fairly nice ripe puerh considering the price of only $12 for 250g. I would probably buy this again if I run out. It’s fairly good although not spectacular.

I steeped this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 30 seconds.

Flavors: Camphor, Earth, Spices, Sweet

Preparation
Boiling 0 min, 30 sec 3 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML

This is one of the best flavored green teas I have had. The strawberry flavor is strong and not artificial tasting. There is an underlying vegetal note that is barely perceptible. There is a natural sweetness to the tea. This is good stuff. I bought more of this the other day when I went to the store.

I brewed 3 tsp leaf in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 175 degree water for 3 minutes.

Flavors: Strawberry

Got this as a free sample with my order yesterday. Made it now because it’s caffeine free. This is an interesting herbal but I’m not sure what I’m tasting. Definitely taste the apple and the lemongrass. I don’t know why this is called Sailor’s Brew as I am relatively sure no one in the US Navy would be drinking this. It’s nice enough for a herbal tisane but I don’t think I would buy it.

Brewed the entire sample in about 12oz of boiling water for 7 minutes.

Preparation
Boiling 7 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

Bought this because it looked like an interesting caffeine free tea to cold brew as an iced tea. There is a sweet taste from all the various fruits added to this. Can’t really say that I taste the apple specifically, it is sort of a melange of flavors all melding together. It is fairly good. It does have a little bit of a sour note to it. But it is still good.

I brewed this overnight in the fridge in a 64oz iced tea maker with 8 tsp of leaf.

Flavors: Fruity

Preparation
Iced 8 tsp 64 OZ / 1892 ML

Drank this this morning hot. It was good. Now I’m drinking it as a cold brewed iced tea and it is fantastic. The raspberry flavor doesn’t taste artificial and just pops out at you. There is basically no bitterness to this brew. I added sugar but it is fairly sweet on it’s own. This is among the best teas I have gotten from Clipper Ship Tea Company. Anyone living on Long Island should take a trip to their store. It is located in Northport, NY, Long Island. If memory serves me it is on Main St.

I brewed this overnight in the fridge in a 32oz Lupica Handy Cooler with 4 tsp leaf.

Flavors: Raspberry

Preparation
Iced 4 tsp 32 OZ / 946 ML

This is an excellent tea. It has a nice flavor from the raspberry. I don’t get any vegetal notes in this one. I sweetened this with some local honey I bought at the Clipper Ship Tea Company when I bought the tea. I have a cold brew going so there will probably be a second review of this today.

This tastes strongly of orange and has a natural sweetness. It’s good but the underlying notes of the oolong are weak compared to the orange. This produces a very light colored cup of tea.

This is a nice green rooibos with a strong note of peach. It’s also a bit of a melange of flavors of the other dried fruit that is in this blend. It’s a fairly nice herbal that I will have to try iced. Being a green rooibos it doesn’t have that herbaceous taste of red rooibos.

I brewed this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 5 minutes.

Flavors: Peach

This tea is fairly sweet with notes of cream and grass. It is a nice white tea. I recently purchased Tea Honey from the Savannah Bee Company. This honey is nice because it does not overwhelm the flavors of the tea. Overall I like this tea.

These are pretty good. The strongest note is definitely the jasmine. There are some underlying notes to the tea too, I would say chocolate. Bought these quite a while ago but they still taste good.

Steeped 2 tsp leaf, about 8 pearls, in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity steeper with 200 degree water for 4 min.

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 4 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML

I am Allan. I live and work in Long Island, New York. I have been amassing a tea collection for nearly two years and have spent way too much money. I now try to buy mostly Puerh as I like it most and it lasts nearly forever. Black tea has a habit of going bad. If anyone is interested in tea swaps I am open to ideas and have quite a cupboard.
