I recently, got my Ippodo order.

I have tried their matchas Spring, Summer, and Autum. Now finally I was able to try their cooking grade matcha.

This is a sweet matcha, when you open it, you can clearly see is not a powerful green as a ceremonial matcha is.

Ippodo recommends to place a certain amount of this matcha in a bottle, place some cold water and drink, unless you like sweet matcha with water then go ahead but I will recommend this to be drinked as a Matcha latte.

My personal recommendation is to use soy milk instead of cow milk, the soy enhances the matcha flavor, cow milk will only make the matcha flavour disappear.

If you have a pot then after heating the milk you can use a milk fluffler, always use a sieve to make the matcha finer if not you will get this clumps. If you are using a machine that warms the milk and at the same time makes this fluffy milk, make sure to not boil the milk but to heat the milk to 60 degrees Celsius, you can sieve the matcha and the machine will do everything for you.

This matcha is very creamy and the sweetness is not overpowering.

So far, all the teas from this provider have been exceptional but unfortunately this one has been a bit of a meh.

I started brewing this tea at 80 C, but on the second steep there needed to be an increase in temperature of 5 C. Honestly, I am not convinced, the flavour was not present and I couldn’t find a scent nor a taste.
Probably, though not making any promises, will repurchase a small package to see if I am in the wrong and give it another taste.

For now it’s a “I don’t know”.

This was a bit of a disappointment.
I bought a 50 g bag, first the provider from the city where I bought it from, I guess he didn’t know how to pack tea as he used the smallest bag and crunched the tea the bag was about to explode.

I thought ok, I can still work with it as it was my first time buying silver needle and wanted to have an introduction to it. I opened the bag and started inspecting the tea. Some of the tea leaves looked like they’ve been roasted as some of them were black, I decided to make my first steep and used 3 g for 300 ml. Used an 80 C water and steeped for 3 min.

The tea tasted okayishhhhh…. but nothing out of the extraordinary. My second steep was disappointing as the tea became astringent and started tasting bitter.

Overall no I won’t buy this again or better said not from the provider from my city as I know there might be a variation from city to city. Probably will try ordering some of it online I might have better luck but for now, it’s a no for me.

When opening the package, the smell of the tea is a bit overpowering but i couldn’t take my nose off because it smells really good.

It has this coconut milk pudding smell that I love.

Usually the way I brew my tea is the Gong fu style. Once the tea it’s brewed the scent transfers to the liquour and the scent is not overpowering but very floral with a hint of coconut pudding.

In total, I love this tea and will buy it again.

Bought the yellow tea as a 10 g sample.

I like it, though it is my first time tasting yellow tea. Will purchase a bigger pack to get to know this tea better from this provider.
