Pure Zhuni Clay Yixing Teapot

Our latest find……This is a hand crafted teapot that wonderfully demonstrates the traditional “Cylinder Patting” (打身筒) technique. A pure Zhu Ni (朱泥) Yi Xing teapot made under the collaboration of 陳蕾 (Chen, Lay) and 劉真全 (Liu, Jen-Chen) with the supervision of 呂一讓 (Lu, Yi-Ran), a Taiwanese teapot master.

The name 折肩 comes from this particular style. It literally means “folded shoulder,” as we could observe at the upper part of the main body (or called 身筒) which has a shoulder like impression. Under the supervision of master 呂 (Lu) this teapot successfully gives a new touch of this classical style from 明末清初 (End of Ming; Begin of Qing) but meanwhile successfully contains the essence of it.

For a teapot beginner, this is a perfect piece to start understanding the world of high-end teapot; for a teapot collector, this will put another missing piece to your collection.
