Stepping over shards of crushed clay, delicacy is abandoned and crunching underfoot, a path is pursued to the chai wallah nearby. Savoured in tiny sips, a perfect balance of spices will incite a morning obsession for the remainder of the trip. Locals drink unceremoniously and cast their cups to the ground. Go on and join them, it seems a shame, but swept and remoulded, the shards will be reborn with purpose and appreciation soon enough.
