This tastes similar to their vanilla cola flavor. There are butterscotch chips in here, but not enough for me to taste any. I get a nice sarsaparilla flavor and the strong rooibos, but nothing else. I’m enjoying this cold, but I wish it were more different from the vanilla cola flavor, which I recently finished. I ran out of butterscotch flavoring, but I have some salted caramel flavoring, so I’ve been adding that to try to edge it closer to butterbeer. The base is a bit strong for me compared with the vanilla cola flavor, so that’s a difference I guess!

Sample from vallhallow! This one smells like root beer and tastes like butterscotch and root beer mixed together. The flavor wasn’t super strong while hot, but I let part of this cup get cool and it was much stronger! I think this is one that could work well with milk, so I might add some oatmilk when I brew up the rest of this sample

I just tried to make an order from NecessiTeas because they have so many yummy sounding teas and they are out of stock of so many things on their website :(

vallhallow

Yeah, I follow Necessiteas on instagram just to ensure I know when she announces restocks in her stories. Its about once a month and only a few teas at a time from what I have seen in the last few months.

Good to know, thanks vallhallow!

John requested this one as a “creamy tea” aka oatmilk tea. I haven’t had this one really one its own yet but I would like to try that next.

Preparation: Western with oatmilk
Tasting note: The butterbeers I have had in the past at wizarding world and a friends rendition have mainly been extremely sweet and butterscotch and whipped cream. I would say that is something I dont typically love. This tea did not remind me of that luckily. The tea with oatmilk reminded me mostly of a rootbeer float with vanilla ice cream. The sasparilla was mellowed by the oatmilk but I don’t always detect the butterscotch. It’s there just ever so faintly. I enjoy the rootbeer/float flavor without the crazy sugar buzz and if I had the tea without oatmilk, I think, I would note the butterscotch more.

Tragic Sipdown (1615)!

I really don’t have any plans to order from NecessiTeas anytime soon just because the shipping cost to Canada is so absolutely brutal and the inventory is so wildly inconsistent, but if there was any tea that I would break that rule/decision for it would be this one. I love butterscotch/caramel tea and I love soda inspired teas and this rich butterscotch/cream soda/rootbeer hybrid was a shining gem in my tea assortment that will be sorely missed.

Another sample from variaTEA. Confession, i’ve never had butterbeer. What does this taste like? a slightly butterscotch rootbeer. Soooo i enjoyed it, but i’m not sure that butter beer is supposed to taste to similar to rootbeer :)

Salted Caramel Sweet Cream Cold Foam Sipdown (208)

B is for…Butterbeer

This is my 6000th TASTING NOTE!

I tried to think of a fun tea to have for this note but then I realized I would rather have another B tea and one that would make a good latte. I also realized I had one “B” tea that would make a good latte AND was caffeine free and as my 8th cup of the day, that seemed like a good call. It also ended up being a surprise sipdown, which was nice. That makes 4 sipdowns for today alone. Yay!

As for this tea, it made for a nice latte. I found this tended to be much more root beer than butterbeer to me. Today, with the salted caramel from the cream, it was slightly more butterbeer than it had been in the past. However, it also was a touch peppery from the honeybush base. It was good but I always found myself wanting more of the actual butterbeer flavor and less of the base/root beer. I don’t think I would get this one again – unless I forgot I had it before and add it to an order as I rushed to beat the selling out of the Necessitea’s entire stock.
