Backlog:

I recently revisited this tea from Teatulia when it was included in my Tea Box Express box from October. This box is AWESOME! You get tea, a sweet treat, and at least one tea accessory. In the box for October, which was themed “Bee Happy” – I received a eco-canister of Teatulia tea, a jar of tea honey, a honey server, a teapot shaped tea bag holder, and a really yummy bee shaped cookie.

Since I’ve had the tea previously, I knew pretty much what to expect from it. It’s a robust black tea that would serve nicely as a breakfast tea. Pleasant and full-bodied.

You can read of my experience with Tea Box Express here: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/09/20/product-review-tea-box-express-monthly-subscription-part-2/ Plus you can see pictures of all the goodies that was in the box!

Since my rating is for the tea, I would rate the box as a 100! I would definitely subscribe if my subscription funds weren’t already stretched to the limit!

Definitely jealous of all the tea subscription options you Americans have… :(

Some where along the line I acquired more of this and will be sharing with friends. I’m having one last cuppa now :)

Flat. One-dimensional. There are only hints of what a good black tea should be.

I really want to believe in this company because of the good that they do in Bangladesh, but this is the second tea of theirs that I have tried that is lackluster and bland. Everything is right about this company except for the quality of the tea itself, save for their loose leaf white tea. Luckily, quality is a variable that can change with even slight alterations in the process. I really hope that Teatulia continues to grow in this aspect.

Hi there Cha Dao, like your new name…you almost tricked me…I caught on though!

Yes, I took your advice, Bonnie, and I decided to be more real on here :) I just hope that my defamatory remarks of the company that I work for don’t get me into too much trouble :P

Bonnie

Not your fault!

This is one of the first teas that got me into loose leaf. I picked up the bagged version on Woot in a really good deal. Huge eye opener to what tea could and should taste like compared to the tazos and stash I was drinking.

It’s a good, straightforward, no nonsense black tea. Has a good roasted flavor to it. Almost a honeyed kind of sweetness. No bitterness as long as it’s not oversteeped. Good, clean taste – especially for a bagged tea. One of my staples.

Last stop on the oxidation train is the black tea, hopefully drinking these teas one right after the other will give me the caffeine boost that I need, if not I am going back to bed. So, the aroma of this tea is brisk with a blend of honey, woodiness, malt, and a touch of berries at the finish. It smells like an iconic black tea, at least to me it does. Brewing up the bag I get notes of malt and honey, it is both rich and sweet.

This tea is rich and brisk, just what I expect from a cup of a tea that smells so iconically like a black tea. There are notes of malt and woodiness with a distinct sweet blend of honey and berries at the finish. The briskness just starts to sneak over to the astringent side but stops before it gets mouth drying, which is a plus in my book. I could see this being a really good breakfast tea, and might be pretty tasty with cream and sugar.

This one is growing on me. Light on the steep time = rich and breakfasty.

decent taste overall but compared to their other teas, this one comes off a bit bland. A good convenience tea though.
