From Teahouse Kuan Yin

More about this item ….
Unlike most Yunnans, this exceptional crop of Gold Yunnan is 100% golden tips. It evokes the flavor of roasted marshmallows and carries a soft chocolate aftertaste. Due to its broad, full leaf this tea has a toasty, sweet flavor and a creamy texture.

Favored by one of our authors in residence! Perhaps Craig will share a pot with you one day at the teahouse. We do our best to keep a copy of his book, Anxious To Please, by Craig English and James Rapson, on the shelf.

There are very few tea varietals in Yunnan which yield golden tips. The gold color emerges during a precise “withering” process. These particular leaves have a beautiful and consistent golden sheen and produce a clear golden-brown cup of tea.

Yunnans are known as the “mochas of tea,” and are produced in the high, mountainous region of Yunnan in Southern China. The Yunnan region is regarded by many as the origin place of tea, and the province produces more black tea than any other province in China. The province borders Myanmar (Burma), Laos, and Vietnam, and its particular climate and soil conditions give Yunnans their rich, creamy texture.

This is unlike any Yunnan I have ever tried! I like it when teas are different! It’s roasty and toasty but also smells like a manly cologne almost. It tastes sweet and creamy and there is a toasty earthiness to the taste too!

Altho it’s been YEARS since I have had Marshmellows (I’m a vegetarian and they are NOT vegetarian) – from what I remember of the actual taste of them and by what I read in the company’s description of the roasted marshmellow notes – I guess I can side with that description as well…I can sort of see what they are saying there.

This is a pretty good one! Sooooo glad I was able to try it!
