Thank you Roswell Strange for sharing this with me. Tbh, I have been putting this off because your description really did not sound all that appealing. I mean “bitter almond” doesn’t exactly scream appetizing. Unfortunately, I totally understand what you mean when you say “bitter almond” because there is definitely a bitter flavor to this. This is just not for me.

I still haven’t tried mine yet… I really like the smell, but yeah – the bitterness thing weirds me out a little. I don’t want a tea that’s going to purposefully be bitter.

VariaTEA

Yeah. It was weird because usually the base is bitter but it was most definitely bitter flavoring.

Sorta Sipdown (163/167)!

Sending this one off to 221Tea as well. I actually really enjoy it despite how low my rating is; the problem is that it’s super finicky and hard to get right – so good cups are, in my opinion, few and far between. I’m hoping she has an easier time with it though.

This cup was actually pretty good; the almond/amaretto was thick and strong and tread the line between sweet and bitter very well right up until the cup cooled down, but even then it only slightly took on a bitter edge. However, I also kept my steep time on this short: 1 and a half minutes.

So that’s my parting advice to you 221Tea – if you want more good cups than bad cups don’t let your steep time go over two minutes! If you keep things nice and short this can be a really lovely, marzipan like dessert tea. And who doesn’t want that, right?

Oooooh! I look forward to it! Thanks for the advice!

well i screwed this one up. was going for a shorter steep..but when i asked my other half to take the tea that wasn’t fruit bits out, he thought i said take the fruit bits out…so this steeped for like 10 mins. sooooo thanks for sending this my way variaTEA (and roswell) but uh apparently 10 mins is too long for this one haha

Roswell Strange

Still haven’t tried mine…

VariaTEA

Oh god, I steeped it for like 2 minutes and found it bitter (granted I think that was their intention), I can only imagine what happened after 10 minutes.
