TTB tea! I’ve seen this tea get a lot of hype on here, so I was excited to see it in the box. I like it! If I drank caffeinated teas daily, I would consider keeping some of this around. It’s mostly malty black tea, and there’s something biscuity and interesting about it. Sweetened with milk, I was really pleased with it.

Sampled from the Strange VariaTea Traveling Tea Box

ExcuUUUuse me, but who give this bagged tea permission to be so delightful?! Goodness.

I recently started my first social work internship and had my final day of orientation/training on Thursday. I brought one of these teabags in my KeepCup, but alas — I could not find a SINGLE WORKING HOT WATER HEATER/KETTLE at the office! There were a few of those dual hot/cold water dispensers, but none seemed to actually heat the water. Cue me holding a cup of lukewarm water with a teabag floating sadly in it.

Reader, I drank it. What else was I to do?! And you know what… it was fine. Surprisingly not bad. I could tell this tea was going to be yummy once I was able to, y’know, brew it properly.

And it was! So yummy and cozy and malty and sweet-but-not-sweet. I’ve gotta get me a box of this.

Flavors: Biscuit, Malty

This one and the Toast & Jam are surprisingly good for conventional teabags!

Double your pleasure with milk!

Something about this tea with a bit of milk and a teeny bit of sweetener is just so warm and inviting. It’s perfect for a gloomy, rainy day like today. However, I still very much prefer Toast and Jam… I always will. This blend is just perfect for a rainy day at work when you really need something to cut the brain fog.

Flavors: Biscuit, Bread, Burnt Sugar, Butter, Cookie, Malt, Sugar, Tannic, Vanilla, Yeast

If you haven’t tried Toast & Jam as an iced tea, do when the weather permits!

Courtney

Ahhh hopefully my Toast & Jam arrives soon! :)

Cameron B.

I agree, Toast & Jam is my fave!

thereadersteacup

Ooooh iced sounds so nice! I’m thinking of grabbing a few from amazon or the British Cornershop online. I’m out of Toast and Jam and when I went to Philly the normal shop I grab it from was out :(

#SVTTB Round Two – Tea 15/???

Y’know, people like to shit on bagged tea but this was honestly just one of the best teas I drank all week. I had it hot with a splash of oat milk and the full bodied notes of malt, honeyed graham cracker, and grains were exactly the richly robust yet sweet and comforting answer to a quest I didn’t know I was asking. Does that make sense? Definitely tastes like the Biscoff cookies you get on flights sometimes or that, occasionally, were handed out with school lunches. They’re such good dunking cookies with a cup of black tea, so suffice to say that the idea that Taylor’s of Harrigate was going for totally comes off exactly as intended.

Yum. Yum. Yum.

ashmanra

I thought it was pretty good, too! If my cupboard ever gets low enough, I would order it.

Courtney

Is this another Taylors of Harrogate I need as well! Perhaps I’ll wait for the Tea, Toast, & Jam to arrive and try it first XD.

gmathis

It is :) It’s the runner-up to Toast & Jam, but it’s a very good ’un, especially with milk!

ashmanra

Toast & Jam was definitely my favorite of the batch!

thereadersteacup

I think I prefer toast and Jam but I like the coziness of this blend for busy nights in.

thereadersteacup

Toast and Jam was my favorite but both are so comforting!

Another from gmathis! Many thanks!

Having read other reviews, I kept my first steep at 3 1/2 minutes. I am having this with lunch, which is a huge bowl of broccoli with hollandaise sauce – one of my guilty pleasures. Plain broccoli also shared with Sam, the King of Dogs.

The aroma reminds me of Cookie by Lupicia. This is similar to the Toast and Jam brew but obviously not jammy. I added milk and sugar before even tasting it because I wanted a treat and I knew by the smell I would love it that way. It is very much like a British tea cookie, not like American sweet cookies. There is a dark, rich, baked aroma. Yummy!

Although I resteeped the bag, I did not combine steeps this time but drank them separately. The second cup is really good, very similar to the first. I did steep it a lot longer, partly by plan and partly because I told the all-knowing cylinder timing it for me to stop and then I got distracted and didn’t pour it up. It didn’t hurt the tea at all, though I expect it would have on the first steep.

NEXT PART ABOUT DOGS, NOT TEA

My beloved Sam, our eleven year old rescue who we raised from one day old, had a bit of a rough year last year. First a limp early in 2022. Vet found nothing, said it was probably a play injury that should resolve. It did.

Then our usually so healthy Sam got a digestive problem. Things got pretty bad and he had to get fluids, which helped tremendously, and was given antibiotics. All through this time he gained a pound or two, which we assumed to be because the limp and then sickness made him less active.

Other little symptoms made us think it was age catching up with him, but so suddenly? Then another two pound weight gain, up to 64. I was so sad that maybe my sweet Sam wouldn’t be with us much longer. Then – sudden BIG weight gain.

Another trip to vet – no thyroid hormones detected in blood work. Meds started. Less than two days later – Sam had bright eyes and a spring in his step again. He has now lost over nine pounds in five weeks, has more energy, coat is shining, and has only about six pounds to go.

I am sharing this for the dog lovers. Aging is normal, sudden “aging” might have another explanation. His meds are sooooo cheap.

Take good care of all your little fur friends, and persist when things are not right. They deserve the best we can do for them!

DrowningMySorrows

I’m glad Sam is doing well now!
My big grouchy cat is 14 this year, I think, and I worry about the old lady.

beerandbeancurd

Oh, what a relief! I am so glad you and Sam can have joyous, broccoli-filled days together. <3

Kelmishka

Aw, wonderful to hear that Sam is on the up-and-up! Give him a pet (and some broccoli?!) from me. :)

Kaylee

So glad he’s doing better!

Third entry in the Yorkshire lineup that recently hit my cabinets. I think, generally speaking, Americans are just so over-sugared, we have trouble wrapping our minds and taste buds around cookies that aren’t sweet. So if you’re expecting sugar cookies here, you’re not going to get them. Instead, the scent and flavoring reminded me a little of those baby arrowroot cookies or a less sweet version of Biscoff “airplane” cookies.

The black tea base is definitely Yorkshire strong. I let it go 4:30, and it was a teeny bit bitter on its own. Even so, I had downed the entire cup before I had the chance to add milk. Maybe tomorrow.

AJRimmer

Gah yes. I’m finding that in my tea and in recipes, I now need to add more sugar than I once did in order for it to taste sweet/good to me. This is definitely something I should work on because I imagine it will only keep getting worse :P

Sipdown! (7 | 129)

Hello again, Steepster!

For some reason I’ve been on a tea with oat creamer kick lately, so that’s mostly how I sipped through this one. The sweet creaminess really helped to bring out the biscuit notes in this too!

Not sure I would buy this again, maybe if I saw it for a reasonable price instead of trying to get it online…

There is a vlogger I follow that seems to really love this tea. Not a tea vlogger, but someone who more recently got into tea. So, I’m not going to take her too seriously, but this sounded like something I needed to try. It’s also called “Malty Biscuit”, and it’s a flavored black, comes in tea bags, not loose. Take all this together, and I think what we have here is a “fun tea.” Not something that you’d spend time analyzing flavors, color, consistency, etc. Just boil some water, pour over tea bag in a mug and wait 5 minutes. Pour some milk in there and done.

And I have to say, it’s tasty. Comforting. Easy to like. I can definitely detect the tea biscuit in there – more like the cracker-y, cookie-like things rather than a tea biscuit/scone. I’ve been having a mug of it with breakfast, but I can see having it in the afternoon for a little mood and energy boost. Seeing as how it’s not that readily available here in the US – other than a couple of specialty stores that had outrageously high prices – I ended up ordering it through the evil Amazon empire. I really wanted to try it.

The price kind of bugs me – 12 bucks for 40 tea bags. I mean, not too bad, but not great. Besides, I have Cookie from Lupicia, which is different, but satisfies my baked good jones like no other. I mean, Cookie is the most amazing flavored black I’ve ever had. So, maybe I would get this tea again IF I ever see it around (Home Goods, maybe?), but not sure I’d go out of my way to order it again. It’s good, but not Cookie good.
