From Spice Traders Tea

Russian Caravan is a blend of oolong, keemun, and lapsang souchong teas. It is described as an aromatic and full-bodied tea with a sweet, malty taste. Although a Chinese tea, its name originates from the 18th century camel caravans that facilitated the transcontinental tea trade from tea-producing areas (namely India, Ceylon and China) to Europe via Russia. "It took at least half a year to make the six thousand mile journey from the Chinese border to Russia, and the voyage was harsh. Folk lore states that the tea got it’s smoky aroma from unloading the tea bales each night from the wagons and stacking them around the campfires to keep out the moisture of the night.

This is a small tin of tea that I picked up at a local craft fair. it’s a mix of black tea — oolong, keemun, and lapsang souchong .

The tea leaves has a strong aroma of lapsang souchong — a very strong smokey scent.
I brewed this in a strong Western Style.

The color is of a dark rich amber with a slightly smokey scent (I expected a much heavier smokey aroma, but was surprised that it didn’t have it). The flavor are hints of keemun (chocolate/malt) followed by smoky aftertaste

This is a very drinkable tea. I also tried a longer steep for a slightly deeper flavor. It became every-so-slightly bitter, but adding the tiniest bit of Hawaiian honey evened out the bitterness and brought more flavor out.
