After seeing this on the list of the highest rated Lupicia teas on this site, I knew I had to try it the next time I stopped by the store. Fortunately, this tea was in stock when I visited.

The dry blend consists of sizable green tea leaves and chestnut pieces. (I tried to nibble on one, but it was quite fossilized, so I wouldn’t recommend doing so!) There’s a faintly sweet chestnut aroma, which becomes more apparent once brewed. The tea liquor is a clear, light yellow-green, and the flavor is a welcoming blend of roasted chestnuts and light, crisp, very springtime-ish green tea. It is a touch sugary, which is probably from the preparation of the nuts, but not enough to detract. As a cozy tea it’s perfect, comforting without being overly strong or too heavily flavored.

Dunno. Maybe I am not sentimental enough about chestnut. Maybe chestnut would go better with black. I was all a bit meh, it tastes a little weird to me, my tea party buddies LoVEd IT a couple of weeks ago though so I gave them the lot in little party bags to take home.

I am liking this one. A lot. I honestly was not expecting to enjoy it this much but it really is a good cup of tea. The green base is smooth and light which allows the perfectly rich chestnut flavor to shine. Thank you Kat_Maria for sharing this with me! It truly is great!

How utterly weird – this is so much closer to what I expected the Milk Caramel I tried yesterday to be. And may I say wow. This is a very impressive tea.

In the bag it smells like a gooey, chestnutty bread pudding. There is a toffee-like quality to it, too, which carries through right into the cup. Steeped, it’s all melty toffee and chestnut – it reminds me a lot of making ice cream; as it simmers, the custard base carries the same thick sweetness that comes through in this tea. Every sip is beautifully balanced – silky, creamy and rich.

It’s even ridiculously good cold.

This is probably the last time I’m going to review this many Lupicia teas in a row, because I feel nothing like my disdainful, tea-litist self after six of these lovefests. Read this in the meantime, lest you forget my true nature: http://steepster.com/clareborn/posts/212352

HAHAHA! I loved your link to your ‘true nature’. Your tea logs are the best, Anna…

Aaah! Frawgy! It’s you, I know you! I had no idea you were following me. <3

Oh, Anna! That linked note is the Best Thing Evar, I think. :D :D So amazing.

Anna

Hahaha, thanks – you know, I actually FOUND the tea of horror in a store a while back, I’m just going to buy it and send out a bag with every single swap from now on. It will be the swap equivalent of a letter signed in BLOOD.

You’ll have to include a link to your tasting note when people let you know they’ve received the package. :D

Backlog – one of many.

This tea is GORGEOUS, period. It looks so cute with all the pieces of chestnut, much better than the picture on Lupicia’s website shows. The fragrance knocks you off your feet even if you’ve never actually had chestnuts (I haven’t) but the flavor is truly a masterpiece. Buttery, nutty perfection in every sip with a hint of bitterness that, I imagine, would be characteristic of chestnut flavor. The base tea, which seems to be sencha (i might be wrong though, LOL), is perfectly combined with the flavoring, too.

The best thing was that when I re-steeped it, I didn’t expect to get as much chestnuttiness, but there was even more of it! Next time I should have 3 steeps and see how that goes.

This is going to be my staple, for sure.

Sigh
I am having a difficult morning, lots of shoulder pain today and I wish it would just end already!

So it was a perfect time to try this tea, I’ve been wanting to sample this for ages and I can’t believe I never have. It’s delicious! The aroma is sweet and chestnutty, it smells like a decadent dessert of the marzipan variety. The flavor is so good, slightly vegetal almost buttery with loads of sweet chestnut flavor. I don’t know how Lupicia managed this one but it is definitely the best flavored green I’ve had. There is probably artificial flavor in here but I don’t care, ‘cause it’s amazing. This will definitely end up as a staple in my cupboard.

Not sure what else to say about it aside from YUM is the word! Tough times call for delicious teas!

Fall is here and guess what?! It’s Chestnut season at Lupicia! I cannot wait to snag myself a few bags of this. This tea is a fall staple at home. The green tea leaves and nuttiness of the chestnut compliment each other so well. I definitely recommend this tea as a hot brew and if you’re into experimenting…try this with milk! The base of this tea is a green tea which I usually never think about adding anything to a green but this is an exception. Straight brew is also very lovely and aromatic.

This is one of my very favorite teas! The chestnuts give this beautiful green tea a hint of sweetness along with its warm earthy flavor. Every time I drink this I instantly feel relaxed and comforted. Absolutely a fantastic tea that keeps you craving for more of that “nostalgic” taste.

Highly recommend trying this if you haven’t already!
