I iced this, but I didn’t have enough ice to cool it all so it’s actually a little lukewarm. Ahh well, it’s delicious anyways.

I made it in this jug (http://www.teavana.com/tea-products/tea-makers-infusers/p/blue-infusion-tea-pitcher-large) which they erroneously list as being 1.9 litres. Umm. No. I used 1L hot tea, 1L cool water, and an ice cube tray of ice and it still wasn’t full. The strainer is nice, though, since it fits really well for a hot steep in a canning jar. I can then combine everything into the jug without steeping in the jug, mix, lid, and lay it on its side in the fridge if it’s room temperature or cooler. Pretty awesome, right? (PS. It’s a Takeya unit, with the Teavana name on the top.)

The tea is berry juice. It’s good on its own, or with a little sweetener. I’m almost out, too. Definitely something to restock when it gets warmer out!

(2 big tbsp tea, 1 litre hot water, 1 litre cool water, ice. Steeped 10 minutes at 195F.)

I have both the one quart and 2 quart takeya and the 2 quart fits in the bottom of the door of my fridge and nowhere else except on it’s side. I just made iced tea in it today. I don’t add ice to the pitcher, just to the glass when I pour it. Saves on space so I can make a full 2qt of tea. :)

OMGsrsly

I have a very small apartment size fridge. The pitcher only fits on its side! I also don’t have room for more than one tray of ice unless I play tetris with my freezer. :) I have a feeling I’ll use it more for cold-brewing, but it’s nice to have the option!

Starfevre

I cold brew so it’s cold beforehand and then the added ice to the cup keeps it so. Works well when I don’t screw up the tea. Which happens often. I am not gifted at iced tea.

OMGsrsly

Oh, I know that feeling. :)

TheTeaFairy

I love this pitcher in the summer, when I can’t seem to get enough of iced tea!! I have the large one with the longer filter, it does fit well in the fidge door…

OMGsrsly

Haha. Yeah, that was the first thing I tried, TeaFairy. :) It does seal, and Takeya says you can leave it on its side! So far, so good.

OMGsrsly

If Teavana or DavidsTea are selling accessories like the “infuser” part, I will see about picking some up this summer. Iced tea lemonade is pretty much my favourite drink when it’s hot. :)

Fjellrev

I’m so glad you found a way around the size! I’m impressed that it doesn’t leak.

OMGsrsly

Although it’s branded “Teavana”, it IS Takeya. Everything I’ve heard about their product has been rave reviews. :)

This one comes from Ms. OMGsrsly and I’m super stoked since I love cold brewing these kinds of blends. Thanks for the sample!

I cold brewed about three glasses worth, and already done one. I can totally taste the strawberries and blackberries separately. It’s blends like this that don’t make me miss juice at all. So thirst-quenching and popping with flavour.

If I had the opportunity to pick some of this up, I wouldn’t hesitate to stock up.

Anna

I seriously need some of this, it’s been 30+ degrees Celsius in Rome today and now it’s pouring down, which usually helps… but today, for some reason, the rain doesn’t really do it, so it’s just like being rolled into a wet blanket in a sauna. PLEASE come here and make me some ice tea. (This sounds SO good.)

Fjellrev

Aww! I would totally send you some if I had more. That weather sounds awful. Any berry blend is awesome cold steeped, plus it’s nice that they’re caffeine-free.

So, I got a “teazer” sampler pack of this, which I think is the only option for purchase at herbal republic other than buying a full tin/big bag (100 gram minimum? Unless you get the teazers, I think.) Not sure, as I only dashed in there on lunch break, not much time to chatter. It was about 5+ tablespoons in the sample teazer pack.

I think I have been using too little tea in my iced blends so I dumped the whole teazer into my takeya, steeped for about ?10 mins in boiling water then added cold water and ice to make about 1.5 – 1.75 litres, then chilled in the fridge. I even tossed in some frozen berries to the mix.

Having a big glass now over ice with a tiny bit of Sonoma simple syrup. It’s good. Very fruity, very berry, very juicey. The more I drink it the more I like it. I think I taste more sweet strawberry, than tart berry, but it is nice. Will definitely go back for a tin ( or bag, however they sell it ) and add this one to my summer iced tea rotation!

OMGsrsly

They will sell my weight if you bring in a tin, as far as I’m aware. Or you can get the bags on the shelf. I need to refill my tin this week. Totally out. I usually use 2 tbsp per litre of finished iced tea, so what you did sounds really good. :)

OMGsrsly

Err. By weight. I don’t think there’s enough tea in the store to sell my weight of it. ;)

Lilysmom

LOLOL….you must LOVe that tea if your buying your weight! ( I am sure you are a fine weight, but it’s still a lot of tea!)……what do you want to bet there is someone who has done that on steepster?….."er, yes….I’d like about 140 lbs of that fruity tea…..yes, I have, 400 tins with me…..what? ….I don’t have a problem, just stocking up!) …..lol….
( Well, if you do buy your weight…..leave a little in the store for me? )

OMGsrsly

Haha! I will try! :)

Lilysmom

Made a full takeya pitcher of this today, iced with some frozen berries added. Yum – so good and refreshing. Kicking my rating up and tempted to make another pitcher right now…..so berry tasty!

OMGsrsly

I’m drinking this one right now too, and I’m also researching how much “other stuff” I need to put into it in order to get my Zoku pop maker to release the finished product. :)

Lilysmom

Now I want a Nana’s Berry Garden zoku Popsicle too….

OMGsrsly brought me a sample of this when she came by to snag her H&S order and man, I am really enjoying this. Thanks for sharing!

It really tastes like fruit juice. Sweet, vibrant and just slightly tart but not unpleasantly so. I iced the entire sample in a pitcher and don’t expect it to last the weekend! This is one that you need to buy by the tin in the summer. Maybe I’ll snag more before I go East.

I should totally get you to go buy things in places that are out there and make you move them here lol

We could probably arrange something! THe last half of August I’ll be off work and home alone (except for the child), so going out to visit tea stores might make a nice adventure.
