From Happy Earth Tea

A noble tea that will stand by you in any circumstance.

This is a delicious and soothing blend of Indian green tea and Tulsi, also known as holy basil. The sweet, spicy and floral notes of the basil overlay the mellow astringency of green tea to produce an unexpectedly calming result. A few sharp notes – almost peppery – will be felt at the start, but it rounds off to an undertone of fresh straw that fuses nicely with the rest.

Tulsi is a variety of basil found in India. It is spicier than the Mediterranean kind and it is not normally used for cooking. The locals consider the plant sacred with tremendous healing powers. Scientific studies have indicated that Tulsi is not only very rich in anti-oxidants but has properties that could help in reduction of blood glucose levels and cholesterol.

Three varietals of Tulsi have been used in this blend.

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this blend.

But, I do have to disagree with you… I’m not finding this to be equal parts tulsi and green tea. I’m finding this to be mostly tulsi with a hint of green tea – not just in appearance but also in flavor. I taste the tulsi, but the green tea is just barely there.

It’s still enjoyable, but, not quite what I was expecting.

This is a great flavor that sticks true to it’s name! Equal parts Tulsi – Equal parts Green Tea taste! Nice combo! Sending the rest to Liberteas!

I cold brewed this (and will probably add more tea next time) but it is quite tasty. I’ve never had “holy basil” in anything before, so its hard for me to describe the taste. I’ll just say that this is very refreshing :)
