A long neglected sample from the GCTTB or maybe from a swap with Sil—

Still sick here and still in bed. This is—to use derk’s expression—an old ass tea. But shockingly, despite its age and despite the fact that I am sick and my tastebuds should likely not be a 100%, here I have peach and thyme in lovely well-balanced amounts. Enjoying this muchly.

Thank you, Sil.

:( Be better soon!

Evol Ving Ness

Thank you!

I must say that it is good to just admit to myself that I am definitely sick and staying in bed w books and movies and tea, rather than trying to push through.

Sil

ugh hope you feel better soon!

Evol Ving Ness

Thank you, Sil! It’s been quite a slog lately.

VariaTEA

Hope you feel better soon! I am still nursing that nasty cold that started last week but thankfully it is going away slowly but surely. Alas, class is getting in the way of my plans to sleep it off…stay in bed as long as you can!

Evol Ving Ness

Thank you, VariaTEA! Colds used to last a day or two. What’s up with this?
Glad you are seeing the end to recovery.

VariaTEA

I’ve always been taught that with medication the common cold lasts a week and without, seven days :P

Evol Ving Ness

hehe, handy perspective. two more days of this and I am hitting the rum.

Shanie O Maniac

Ugh. I hate sickness. I’m on prescription meds that prevent me from taking any cough medicine. It’s annoying but usually I just have to triple up on the medicinal teas to try and kick it.

This was actually pretty tasty. The thyme was not overwhelming, as I thought it might be, and the peach flavour was realistic and not overwhelming. The base was fairly neutral, which is typical of French blacks IMO. The baggie suggests I should try it iced; perhaps that’s what I’ll do with the last cup’s worth?

GCTTB DAY 4

Whooot, the boiler at my office is broken (meaning it’s freezing in the office) so I get to stay home today! Such an exciting turn of events. :D That means I have time to try more teas today!

So I had to try some from the famed and fancy Fauchon teas. I think this is the only one I saw in there, so I brewed a cup this morning as soon as I heard the news that I get to stay in. I wasn’t sure what was in it but it looked like flavoured black tea so I steeped it with boiling water for about two and a half minutes. I didn’t get any of the peach that is supposedly in there, but definitely tasted the thyme. The black tea was a bit tannic and left my mouth feeling dry but overall it was just alright. A bit more one-dimensional than I was expecting.

MrQuackers

Use more tea or brew longer? Perhaps.

Mookit

The tea strength didn’t seem to be an issue, the thyme and black base came out strongly. Just the peach seemed to be MIA.

Hello tea people!

Made this iced today. About 450g ice, 450ml hot water, 2 tbsp tea, 1 tbsp honey.

Too much honey, but whatever. It’s a good combination with the thyme.

And I must say that this is really THYME. I like it, but I wouldn’t get it again…

While the dry leaf smells peachy, the thyme definitely comes out more to play in the brewed tea.

However, as it got colder in my cup (I let it sit for too long), the thyme flavour became all wonky. It paired up with the peach flavour in a weird way to taste musty and artificial. I’ve never had Fauchon teas, but I’ve heard very good things about them, so I’m just going to assume that I’m some sort of uncultured boor who can’t grok the delicacy of refined French things.

OMGsrsly

This tea is definitely weird. I do love it iced with a little honey though.

This is a very bizarre tea. Don’t judge Fauchon on this puppy. It’s kinda like those savory rosemary shortbread cookies, or savory fruit chutneys; some people love them and some hate them, but above all they require balance. I agree with iced as the best balance between the two flavors and the base. Really upping the intensity helps this tea out a lot.

Well I see service solahart is back. Man, those guys just don’t give up.

I quite like it when herbs are paired with fruit in teas, desserts and foods, etc., so I was exicted to try this one. However, the smell of the dry tea was a bit disappointing. Smelled just like mixed dried herbs to me.

The brewed tea has a very quick sweet peachy taste just at the very beginning of the sip but it soon gives way to way too much herb. While quite hot, I was not able to distinguish thyme as the herb. It was more just like generic Italian spices. But after it cooled the thyme became quite strong.

It may have just been the sample I had but there was way too much thyme and hardly any peach in this one.

The black tea base was quite obviously nothing to write about. Ha ha. I would say it was quite mild, no astringency noted. But also no creaminess or thickness to the liquor which was a bit disappointing. The tea felt very thin.
