Decided that i need to try and have a few puerh/gonfy type sessions today because the weather is shit outside and i’m working from home. I also haven’t had a chance to do much of anything besides western brew so i’d like to change that. I have a ton of puerh that i want to revisit, some samples and a cupboard to get in order! :) I pulled this one out as i also want to try and get at least one sample down today. I’ve had this one before, courtesy of dexter (as is this sample) and i rather enjoy it.

oh god. i just lost my train of everything. we’re doing this mini “introduce the team” thing at work and i think i just convinced my boss to make it powerpuff super hero themed for fun…. which doesn’t happen in a bank normally for this sort of thing and i think he’s onboard since he just sent my his own avatar that he created, complete with his cat. oh god i am dying here…

My Streetshop order arrived in my mailbox today (this tea and that puerh cake everyone was raving about… :) ). I was pleasantly surprised at just how much of this tea I received, as I’m not very good at imagining the size of a package by the weight of the tea.
The tea leaves themselves are beyond gorgeous…. silver white fuzzy leaves, accented by dark black matte ones. Just a really beautiful tea…
I decided to brew this one western this time, since my house seems kind of busy right now, and I like to reserve my gaiwan moments for more serene scenes… I used a lower temp water (somewhere around 175-180), in 8oz, with my filter basket filled pretty high because this is a fluffy tea.
The liquor is golden and lovely, looking even more pretty in my lustreware cup.
Upon first sip, I just think, “thank you so much Dexter for recommending this tea”…. It’s light with a smooth finish, but has this deep note running through it, like a bass note, rounding it out and making it feel unique.
Yeah, I can see myself wanting this in my cupboard for quite some time…. it also seems like a really perfect summer tea. :D

Not sure what I think of this one, didn’t gongfu it, just brewed it western style. No energy to gongfu it. It’s not bitter and fairly sweet with a taste I just don’t know how to describe. I have very little experience with white puerh and may have over steeped it at one minute. It’s a very light weight tea, I weighed out about nine grams and brewed it in my Glass Perfect Tea Maker.

LOL I’m blaming you a little for ordering some of this tonight… :)

I did not exactly write a glowing review. Hope you like it.

But I drank two versions in the last couple of days and LOVED them – saw this and well you know – had to give it a try considering how much easier it would be to have an online source – so thanks for posting. I bought a cake from Dragon Tea House too… :)

I have this tea and just reviewed it not that long ago. I was wondering why it wasn’t under this tea. It happens to be under GoShopStreet because that’s what was on the bag. It’s good tea!

I had seen that review UbacatLOL and because of it you were getting some of the “blame” for my Moonlight purchases last night. I went looking, now that I read Yang-chu’s explanation in the sheng or shou thread, for “Yue Guang Bai” and found it on the ESGreen site too…. I’m still really confused – some companies have it under pu’erh and some under white – I ordered White Night from Mandala just on a whim (friend was talking about it) and it could be one of them but I didn’t realize that at the time…. I know nothing other than I REALLY liked the two samples OMGsrsly gave me and NEED to explore it more. :)

OMGsrsly

I ordered White Night from Mandala too! :D I’m going to send it and my two other examples to Sil to see what she thinks.

I’m not surprised you like Moonlight tea because to me it’s like a fusion of black and white (only it’s really not). I’m drawn in by the light taste & hay notes and just a hint of black. Because you like black teas, you are probably drawn in by the malty flavour that’s in some blacks. My first purchase of this tea was totally random and a nice surprise.
