Strange VariaTEA TTB – Tea #27

Hmm this doesn’t smell or taste anything like cake. It tastes like a mediocre black tea. There are some slight raisin and caramel notes going on, otherwise it’s a little earthy but mostly just tea-ish.

I thought I was missing something, but Roswell and VariaTEA’s notes say basically the same thing so now I feel better ha ha.

Strange VariaTEA TTB: Tea #12

This is an MTC catalog blend, and one that I’m not really a huge fan of – so I’m not sure why I felt compelled to try it. Maybe because VariaTEA has received such a great response to her latte recipe that uses this tea!? I get Dollar Tea Club’s targeted FB ads that use her IG photo all the time, haha…

It’s not that it tastes bad – it’s just that it doesn’t really taste like cake at all and the flavour is pretty average in quality. Mostly a more raisin-y and malty style of black tea base with some chocolate flavouring – the alcohol based kind that tastes a bit like chocolate liqueur. Pretty “okay” cup overall.

Dollar Tea Club has been using a picture of my iced latte as their advertisement on Facebook for a while now. They keep getting asked about my recipe and some people have found me on Instagram to ask the same. Consequently, Dollar Tea Club sent me a large bag of this tea to walk people through the recipe. With that said, this tea was never a favorite. It’s fine but it’s sort of mediocre quality black tea and sprinkles. There isn’t much flavour beyond that so I don’t actually want the full bag. Thankfully I’ve been putting together a TTB and that seemed like a good place to toss this tea. Hopefully others will enjoy it or get to experiment with iced lattes like I did!
