From DAVIDsTEA

We’re daydreaming about the perfect beach vacay, so we brought the beach to our teacups with this refreshing, tropical iced tea. Take in the scents and sights of a sunset with this light purple tea. And just how did we achieve the colour you ask? With a little help from the Hawaiian purple potato.

Purple sweet potato gives this tea its vivid colour and round texture.

Sweet, tropical pineapple is a classic base for island drinks everywhere.

Citrusy orange peel gives a burst of fresh flavour.

Sweet, mellow and round with all the fruity freshness of a tropical punch.

Candied pineapple (pineapple, sugar), Purple sweet potato, Apple, Orange peel, Natural pineapple flavouring, Kiwi, Marigold flowers, Natural flavouring with stevia extract, Natural exotic flavouring.

I was trying to figure out which DavidsTea flavor this reminded me of…is it Deep Blue Spirulina…or Moringa Mermaid? This flavor is just so familiar! It tastes really refreshing, but also not like a particular fruit I can point out. There’s something in there that doesn’t taste real. It’s not overly artificial, but…not something that exists naturally. Like how candy flavors compare with the real fruits. It’s hard to describe, but the flavor is light and delicious. I enjoy drinking it cold and would consider ordering more.

Puling this out of the box yesterday, I knew I remembered this tea but couldn’t have told you where. I looked through my spreadsheet and I didn’t have any on hand, which seemed odd, so I went back here and – ah. I drank it and hated it.

But it smells incredible! Bright and fruity, tart, and a gorgeous purple too. The last time I’d tried it I went iced, so it had to be better hot, right?

Absolutely not. Like, I adjusted my rating down from “I hated this” to “I really hated this”. I get nothing but a cloying and artificial sweetness. I stand by my comment that it’s like someone at the Starbucks went all-in on the added sweetener. No thanks.

Sipdown! don’t need this one in my cupboard again. It’s not a terrible tea but it’s not great either. Just something about the flavouring that doesn’t work for me even though given the ingredients i feel like it should.

Made this with some mango juice and pineapple bubly water. It’s fine but not my favourite.

2021 Sipdown 55/365!
(DavidsTea 129)

Another tea from the summer DT sub box. Highly regarded by other subscribers, and brews a beautiful purple due to the use of purple sweet potato. I iced it; it tasted like a citrussy pineapple, which unfortunately came off as a bit grapefruity to my husband, which meant it wasn’t his favourite. Wasn’t mine either, as apparently I want my iced tea to be more on the tart side. This tea wasn’t overly sweet, though, despite the stevia, but I almost feel like a bit of hibiscus might have added the edge I wanted.

Wonderful tea. Got this in my subscription box and it tastes soooo good. Such a pretty pretty color. Smells so fruity and the flavor is similar to tropical drinks like malibu and pina colada’s. Can’t wait to buy more of this and make some diabetic friendly cocktails using it this summer. ie just gonna add some white rum and enjoy.

Iced – Yes
Hot – ?

Well, advents are done but I still have tasting notes to catch up on.

I managed to get my daily advent notes up before midnight each day buuuttttt I’ve just been sitting on the tasting note queue for everything else I drank during the month that I didn’t have the time/energy to write about. Like this tea!

I had this near the beginning of the month during an office pizza party! We had two different sparkling/carbonated cold brewed teas on tap for the lunch and this was one of the two. It was just an absolutely gorgeous and beautiful pinkish purple colour and the taste was a bit like a tropical bubblegum but light and refreshing. I enjoyed it a lot as an offset to the savory delicious pizza.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Leafhopper

It’s amazing that you managed to drink any other teas at all during December! I think I’d be tea’ed out. :)

tea-sipper

Oh my gosh, I was going to say the same thing, Leafhopper… You drank more tea than all those advents!?!?!

Not a lot – but some ;)
