From DAVIDsTEA

We’re pretty strict about certain holiday traditions. Especially the delicious ones. So it should come as no surprise that we insist on sipping eggnog at every festive occasion. All things considered, it’s almost crazy that it took us thing long to find the perfect eggnog tea. But trust us, this rich and creamy rooibos blend was definitely worth the wait. With white chocolate, mini meringues and a hint of nutmeg, it’s a brand new tradition we can’t believe we ever went without.

Price: $8.50 per 50g

Drinking out of my new mug from Disney! Drinking out of the Disney California Adventure mug from the You Are Here Collection from Starbucks :)

Ahh I want all the Florida ones as well! I don’t know anyone who is currently in Florida though so that might be a bit of a problem…

But this is an okay tea? Only drinking it bc it’s caffeine free and it smelled pretty good! But as with many rooibos teas I’ve had, the flavour kinda disappears after steeping.

Sil

jealous. I REALLY want the adventureland one from california… Also trying to find someone n florida to be nice and go get my epcot and the animal kindom

Soooooo did you want me to get you a DCA mug?? :))

Jennkay

Oh man, I just went to Disney in Orlando in December! Although, I do have too many mugs, so maybe it’s a good thing they didn’t have them yet.

Sil

oh so tempting jump…. but shipping to canada and everything would be obscene… maybe i can just use those mugs as an excuse to go out there?

I know not everyone enjoys sweet blends, but this one is just really satisfying, even though it doesn’t taste quite like eggnog, it’s sweet enough and a rooibos blend at that. Sure, you get a bit of oily film at the top, but that doesn’t bother me. It lasts through multiple steepings, it’s very hard to ruin. It’s sweet on its own but I add a touch of sweetener for when I’m feeling a major sugar need. In case you were wondering how much I have enjoyed this, I managed to go through 25 grams in 4 days. That, my friends, shows how much I love this “tea”. I have a few small tins, a the ‘big daddy’ tin and I can’t imagine it’s going to be hard for me to get through it rather quickly. If the 250 grams goes on sale beyond the 40% it’s on now, I would definitely pick more up (but since the smaller tins are actually more cost effective, that’s what I’ll do for now).

Eww. Gross. Yuck.

I’m not a fan of actual eggnog, but I thought I’d give this a try after hearing how bonkers some of my friends are for it.

I got all excited when I saw the pieces of white chocolate in the dry mix, but I didn’t taste anything resembling chocolate or spices in the cup. To me it just tasted like a sickeningly oversweetened rooibos with an odd aftertaste.

Maybe a fan of real egg nog would like this one, but I will not be back. Wow, that was unpleasant.

Haha I thought this was nasty too.

Wasn’t it though? It’s a mystery to me why so many people I know love it.

Thin mouthfeel. I am not quite a fan of this mix of spices but I’m assuming it is similar to what an eggnog spice mix would taste like. If I had to choose an eggnog tea, I would definitely go with Creamy Eggnog by Butiki Teas. I am certainly glad that I got a chance to try it!

When I saw this pop up on DavidsTea’s website, I knew that I had to buy some! I love eggnog and I love rooibos blends. Eggnog isn’t something I feel good about drinking once I’ve finished a glass, but it is a seasonal treat that I do like to have each year.

This tea smelled very much like eggnog right out of the bag. I was pleased to see all of the little white chocolate chips, too! Once water has been added, this tea smells much more like nutmeg and rooibos. It’s a little concerning for me as I’m not a big fan of eggnog with nutmeg or nutmeg in general. Sipping… well, this is a bit disappointing. It’s seems like this is very watery despite how much of the blend I actually added. It’s mostly a watery and sweet rooibos with a bit of nutmeg on top. I wish I could get more of that creamy, rich eggnog flavor, but this tea just doesn’t have it.

Next time I make a cup, I think I might add more leaf and add a few more minutes onto the steep time. I haven’t given up on this blend yet!

Not gonna lie the ingredients kinda scare me. Egg is an odd one for tea. Despite all the craziness with the ingredients it’s not bad. I steeped it until the white chocolate chips disappeared. There is alot of… something floating in there. Kinda chemically looking. This is much better with some almond milk added. But that chemical look still floats on top.

Blech! I was not a fan of this one, either…

Rooibos is usually the main and only thing you can taste but I couldn’t even taste it!

I would recommend drinking this as a latte only. As a tea, it is not to my tasting as I keep wanting milk to go with it. A soy latte is what I prefer to drink it as.

The best part of this tea is that it reminds me of the Harry Potter books. My first impression of it was Harry Potter’s Hedwig, and her snowy wings, with Potter dressed warmly in his robes and scarf. This tea, especially as a latte inspires me to read a wonderful series full of adventures to cozy up to.

Books recommended for this tea: The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.

GAK! Abomination! Tastes like weak rooibos, sugar, and EGGS. The meringue in this is doing it no favours. Hints at the flavour of real eggnog but without any of the richness that makes real eggnog worth drinking at all. May have actually made me hate Christmas a little bit. Big ol’ nope.

Melina

I’m with you on that. I just didn’t have any love at all for the spices that were involved. I think my stomach is turning just trying to remember.

Day 23 of the advent calendar. Let me start off by saying that I hate eggnog. My parents always drank it during the holidays when I was growing up but I couldn’t even stand the look or smell of it. I would never have purchased this tea had it not been one of the samples the day that I went in. When the sales person said “eggnog” I thought…..ewwwww, yuck!" I drank the sample she handed me anyway and to my surprise it wasn’t half bad. I actually liked it! This doesn’t really taste like true eggnog to me (which is a good thing.) I get a sweet, creamy nutmeg flavour with a hint of vanilla. I drank this with a splash of milk to make it even creamier. Nutmeg is the star of the show here. A nice, light, creamy, slightly sweet nutmeg. That’s what this is to me, a nutmeg tea. I think real lovers of eggnog or people who like really strong, bold flavours will be disappointed but for me, it’s perfectly understated and mild which is exactly what it is that makes me like it. Yum!

There is definitely a smell of eggnog with this tea, both raw and then when brewed. The taste, however, is purely lacking. I even let this one brew for an exceptionally long time, and still it was almost devoid of anything. It mostly just tastes like warm water with a hint of something I can’t really put my finger on. Its not as disgusting as Fry warned me it might be, but perhaps she got more green rooibos in her sample than I, because that would be awful. Overall, nothing special and almost nothing to comment on.
