Oh this has chocolate chips in it! Actually, it has tons of ingredients, and the flavor turned out pretty interesting. The main flavors are cloves and cardamom. There’s also a bit of cinnamon. I wish it were balanced a little better, but I’m definitely enjoying this! The second steep stays really strong. It’s great with milk. Not my favorite chai, but pretty good.

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar, December 18

I took this tea in the morning, but I was busy with my exam, so I haven’t prepared it and went for tea bag instead. I have checked other side and it thought it is some rooibos blend or herbal.

And it’s 9 pm, and found out it is actually black tea blend? Oh well!

Opened the small pouch and, oh my, Kiki won’t like this. It’s so cloves heavy. For me, as I don’t mind cloves, it’s strong… but brewed it can be different. I also saw chocolate chips, which aren’t something I would care in tea, but let’s see how it goes.

It’s clove-heavy in taste as well. The base isn’t there present much. I noticed a bit of chocolate, but maybe I would expect more of it. Some generic spiciness (can’t point any spices, but that cloves)

Not a tea I would buy a pouch of, but maaaybe as a winter blend? That could work. But less clove a bit to let shine the oranges a bit more?

Love the Kiki callout! XD

Nichole/CuppaGeek

This blend is so love/hate and it is a hard one since a sample of it might lend to being more clove/spiced. I almost didn’t make this one up this year but had a lot of requests for it. So appreciate your notes and will go back to the drawing board with it. :)

Nichole, I agree that sample won’t be saying much. Maybe it was inded just lots of cloves there. Maybe I didn’t get much of base there too; as I really thought it is tisane/rooibos/anything but black tea.

Nichole – you must at least keep the fantastic Ugly Sweater name for a blend. :D

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar – Day 2

This one had potential with its chocolate chips and orange slices. Both those flavors come through, along with clove, which I like. However, there is a hibiscus note that hits you in the back of the throat that is out of place and makes me kind of sad.

Cameron B.

Nooooooooo hibiscus, you rascal! >:|

Leafhopper

Yeah, why would they put hibiscus in this? BTW, I like the name.

Mastress Alita

I love the name of this tea! (And I also love hibiscus, so I’d probably like this)

VariaTEA

I have come to the conclusion that hibiscus works well in some teas and is necessary in others. But in this tea, it was out of place and sort of messes with the flavor profile Nichole was aiming for (imo). Also makes it hard to make it a latte, which a spiced chai is usually best as a latte.

Ugly hibiscus chai! (sorry Mastress Alita)

Mastress Alita

I totally rock that ugly hibiscus! :-P
