The description says caramel pear. The reviews say stale walnut. I don’t know if it’s something wrong with my cup or me, but it almost smells boozy to me, and it definitely tastes like something left to ferment. I can kind of tell there’s sweetness in here somewhere, but it’s mostly masked by this awful flavor up front. This is the first tea here I truly could not do at all, which isn’t bad for halfway through, but yikes.

BrutaliTeas Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 12

What in the actual heck is this? O.o

So this is supposed to be a pear and caramel tea, but I agree with amandastory516, it legit tastes like an old stale walnut that’s been sitting out for months. Maybe even a black walnut at that – they have a very distinct earthy flavor, of which I am not a fan. There’s a hint of caramel at the end? I think it’s the white tea that’s tasting super musty and weird, with a hint of rooibos woodiness bringing it up in the rear.

I’ll just call it “A Nightmare on Walnut Street” rofl. Very unenjoyable.

My first Brutaliteas review. I cracked up every time I see the title. Imagine a pear in a dark alley with a knife. Menacing yet amusing. I don’t usually do tea with any flavoring (I’ve been noticing some give me headaches) but I wanted to see what this tasted like. It is a swirling tornado of flavors. Rooibos hits first and then the caramel beats it to a pulp and completely takes over. I don’t really taste much of the pear though within the first minute of steeping it was a bit more pronounced. The white tea is too muted for my liking.

“Imagine a pear in a dark alley with a knife. Menacing yet amusing.” haha brilliant

Now I will dream about a pear in a dark alley with a knife. Thanks Skysamurai

The tea seems okay.

Dustin

A lot of the names for their teas make me laugh.

Advent Calendar Day 11

I was excited to see a pear-flavored tea today, as there don’t seem to be too many of those out there and I’ve really enjoyed some of the ones I’ve found (e.g. Trader Joe’s White Ginger Pear and The London Tea Room’s Mango Pear White). Interestingly, even though it isn’t listed in the ingredients list, the main thing I’m tasting in this tea is walnut! This is another one that I don’t know how to rate. It actually has a very pleasant smooth, nutty flavor that mingles well with the hay-like notes of the white tea and if the blend were called “toasted walnut” or something, I’d probably give it a high rating. But it’s apparently supposed to be a caramel pear tea and I don’t taste either of those flavors. So not going to rate this, but glad I got to try it!

I really like Harney’s Heirloom Bartlett Pear. :D

The name of this one is awesome!

Sadly no Steepsterers bought the Brutaliteas advent this year? Or maybe they didn’t have it…

Inkling

@Cameron…that one is on my wishlist! Thanks for the recommendation.

@Courtney…I agree, the name is so clever. :)

@tea-sipper…I haven’t seen anyone posting about their advent calendar either. Pretty sure this was the first tea I’ve tried from this company, so I definitely didn’t order it. But if all their names are this great, I can see how it would make for a fun experience!

Sadly another failure of a cup today. Not getting any pear or caramel. Just tastes like an old walnut. Not enjoyable.

Martin Bednář

You got tea-sad day apparently. I wish you good other days :)

amandastory516

I ended up having some great cups later in the day, so it was a good tea day!
