Tea of the Week for May 20, 2019!

I’ve had a lot of feedback from my customers who love my coconut teas. I’ve also had quite a bit of positive feedback about my blueberry teas. This month, I decided to bring two favorite flavors together in one tea.

And . . . WOW! this tea is so good. Lots of blueberry AND coconut flavor in every sip!

I started with a blend of organic black teas – Assam, Ceylon & Yunnan – to which I added a bunch of blueberries & coconut. That’s it! A relatively simple combination that’s been carefully balanced. The blueberries are sweet, juicy & just a little bit tart. The coconut is sweet & creamy. The black tea blend offers a solid background of flavor to support these two fruits. It’s wonderful! It tastes AMAZING hot as well as iced! It’s also organic, gluten-free, all-natural & VEGAN!

organic ingredients: black teas, blueberries, coconut & natural flavors

Loving this! LOVING it!

I knew I’d probably enjoy it because I love both blueberry & coconut, but I didn’t know I’d love it this much. It’s a really fantastic combination. The black tea is smooth & strong. There’s a pleasing malty tone to it that plays nicely with the creaminess of coconut. The coconut is sweet & smooth. The blueberries are sweet & just a wee bit tart. That tartness brightens the cup just a little. There’s also that nice tingly berry note in the aftertaste. It’s quite simply – LOVELY!

I have tried this twice now, once as a hot tea, again as an iced tea. It tastes great both ways – so it works whether you’re craving a hot beverage or a cold refresher.

to brew: start with 3g of tea and 12 ounces of freshly filtered water, heated to 205°F. allow to steep for 2 1/2 – 3 minutes. strain, allow to cool for at least 10 minutes to allow flavors to develop.

I’ve just come back from the laundromat with clean bedding. Now, I’ve made up my bed with fresh flannel sheets and yay!

Yes, I know it’s April, but even though our days here are glorious, the nights are still cool and I need all the things.

There was a woman in the laundromat washing and drying her duvet and comforter in preparation for storing them away till next fall/winter, but that’s not me. Not yet, anyway. We could still get snow. And even if we don’t, I want to be toasty.

Now, I am exhausted.

Even still, it always amazes me how rewarding and comforting it is to have a freshly made bed.

Such a simple lovely kind thing we can do for ourselves.

now about this tea. I’ve decided that rather than equal parts blueberry and coconut, the coconut adds a sweet buttery softness to the blueberry.

How are you spending your days, people?

Studying and/or writing thesis. My screen-time is too long “by a lot”! And exhausted of being in lockdown. It should be raised on Monday, but we will see if it’s time for that.

Sipdown (297)

Earlier today I was at 279 and then I added the teas from Sil and I’m back up to about 300. Thank you Sil for sharing and for delivering my teas!

This was a single serving so I decided it would be easy to just drink it up while it was fresh on my mind. I am quite happy with it. I know Kittenna got more blueberry and Sil got more coconut but if I am being honest, for me it’s quite balanced. If I had to pick, it’s maybe slightly more blueberry but both flavours are present and distinct and delicious. Plus, the base is adding a lot of richness to the tea. It’s a dark sort of flavor in the sense that it is dense and jammy. I’m enjoying it quite a bit.

You got me up to 98….so close and yet not 100 haha

Milk really brings out the coconut in this tea. The blueberry flavor is so tasty – like the blueberries in a muffin. I’ve really come to enjoy this one, and the rebrew is strong and wonderful too. It’s gone now, and I miss it! This is one I’d be very happy to see come back.

(52teas (Anne) 2022: 62)

My last packet of this tea; there’s only a generous cup’s worth left now. Such a yummy creamy blueberry. The 2022 12 days of Christmas would be a great time for it to be reblended :D

52Teas

I have been debating with myself about this year’s 12 Teas of Christmas. I have tossed around the idea of doing a full advent – but this really isn’t a feasible thing for me. I am a one person operation – and to make 24 teas in addition to the 5 teas per month that I’d be doing for subscriptions – I neither have the studio space nor the energy or sanity to pull that off. I wish I did – but until I can afford to pay employees and have a larger facility, I simply cannot pull that off.

An idea that I’ve also been tossing around my mind is maybe doing an actual 12 teas of Christmas – focused on teas that can be in some way – inspired by the 12 gifts from the song. I actually have come up with most of the teas that I’d blend to the 12 days of christmas song – some would be reblends and some new teas – and they all have an abstract connection to the gifts mentioned in the song. But this would negate the vote and I know that people appreciate that ability to vote on the reblends that would be featured in the box, so again – I don’t know.

My final idea was to maybe do a tea translation of the song for the holiday – and then put together a 12 reblends box in December (since the tea translation box would already have been sent out in November) and ship out the 12 reblend box as a 12 Reblends for the New Year box – or maybe go with the current formula (8 reblends + 4 new teas) and call it the 12 Teas for the New Year box?

I don’t know. My S/O tells me that I need to just keep it to one box because I drive my household crazy during the blending/production of the box and I don’t need to double that. What are your thoughts? (Also, I think I’m going to cut/paste this and post it to the discussion forum so that I can get more opinions – for those who may not read this…

Kittenna

Replied in the discussion forum :) I’m really stoked that you’ve been thinking about theming the 12 teas of Christmas to the song!

I’ve had this a few times and I think it’s funny that Kittenna sees this one as being more blueberry and less coconut while I have the opposite issue. For me this is more coconut blueberry tea. On the upside I like both those flavourings from 52 teas so I’m not super worried about it. I’ll try and tweak my brewing and see what happens as I drink through the rest of this :)

This is last week’s tea of the week. Let me say this – I love my “job” – creating teas and then getting to do all the tasting that’s required! Plus, I even get a ‘bonus’ pouch of tea if I do my job right!

This one has a lot of both flavors – right now – after sipping about half a cup – I’m tasting a lot of coconut but the first half was more blueberry. It’s really silky to drink. The black tea base is strong enough to be tasted with the flavors. I think I managed a decent balance with this tea.
