Genmaicha is a blend of one green tea leaves and popped roasted rice. Its flavour is a combination of the earthy, grassy goodness all green tea lovers enjoy, with hint of toasty goodness.

After admiring the beauty and taking in the scent, it was finally time to start sipping on Sakura Cherry Rose. This tea tastes exactly like it smells-amazingly soothing. First you’re presented with the grassy, light flavour of green tea that we all know and love. Upon digesting the sip, you get the cherry rose flavour which is boasted by the name. Although I stated earlier that bubble gum usually disgusts me, the flavour was so light and floral, that it felt like I was instantly transported to a spa. The flavour doesn’t wear out either, every sip presents you with just as much floral bliss as the first. I imagine drinking this tea, in a warm bubble bath, or as a nice after dinner soother.

The flavor most at the forefront of your sip is the spicy ginger, it lingers for a moment until the creamy vanilla takes over in the after taste. What’s odd is that I felt as though the two flavors never met, there was a first flavor and an after flavor but the middle was flavorless as if something was noticeably missing. I don’t know if perhaps this tea would be better suited as a latte, to have the milk bring the ingredients together with a little more, but as a plain hot cup, something’s a little off with Gingerbread Blondie.

Apple cider is a herbal blend featuring apple, sweet blackberry leaves, artificial vanilla, and cream flavorings. Given the ingredients it no surprise that this drink is pretty sweet by nature. The delicate creaminess in the aftertaste is what I find quite surprising. I don’t remember classic warm apple cider ever being creamy, but rather slightly spicy with an overwhelming apple flavor one may expect given the name. However, it is this creamy aftertaste that makes this tea so enjoyable for me. I also think that the creamy notes of vanilla are what make the scent of this tea so delicate and sweet, making it an aroma that draws me in sip after sip.

Much like the leaves, the taste of David’s Breakfast Blend is purposely simple. Although black teas are often quite bitter to me, I find this blend earthy and smooth. A flavor that would go well with milk, as a simple latte or just plain by itself.

The taste, however, is another story. Honestly, taste-wise, I’m not a huge fan of Let it Snow. I enjoy a good cup of Eggnog every now and then during the winter season, but there’s something about this tea that just turns me off. The first time I ever tried Let it Snow was back when I worked at DAVIDsTEA, my coworker suggested trying it as an iced latte, and in that form I absolutely loved it. Since then, however, I find that when I try and enjoy this Christmas classic, the thick texture of the steeped milk ingredients throws the best elements of the flavor off, not allowing me to enjoy it. Not enjoying Let it Snow saddens me because I love the idea of it and separately I love each ingredient within the blend, it’s putting them together that makes me feel this tea is subpar.

I must say, the flavor of this tea took me by surprise. It was absolutely sweet, but it wasn’t as overwhelming as I expected. I actually quite enjoyed sipping casually on my cup of Maple Syrup Oolong. After drinking about half the cup, I let it sit while I did some chores when I came back it was cold. As a cold tea, the sweetness is definitely amplified and more so in an overwhelming way. This is a tea I would prefer hot over cold. I’ve heard many enjoy this tea as a hot latte and I am definitely going to try this out as well, I think the warm milk will compliment the strong maple flavor and make it even more cheerful!

I personally find this blend extremely soft and soothing, great as an early evening cozy cup, but I have definitely turned to this blend on many an anxious morning.

In its online description, DAVIDsTEA boasts about this tea’s cherry flavor. In my opinion, I don’t find this tea to have an obvious cherry taste, but rather a blend of fruity flavors, complemented by floral undertones, which mix rather well together
