For your the round 2,3,4 did you sip them against each other vs. just basing it on sipping them in round 1?

A lot of my tea-drinking has to do with my schedule (work vs. not work, hours of the day, etc.). Rounds 1 and 2 I was just drinking a cup whenever I had time. When I got down to Rounds 3 and and final round, I was finding it difficult to make some judgement calls and waited until a weekend when I had the time to make both cups of tea and sip them together.

I’m struggling to finish up round 1..sure it will go quickly as I have less battles but wow to be finished before half way through March. I’m impressed.

Drinking lots of cups gets me closer to sipping them down and I’m trying to clear these old teas from my cupboard! Now that the tourney is finished, I’ll be trying to completely finish off the leaf of as many of the contestants as possible during the remainder of the month, heh.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is National Coconut Torte Day! Drink a coconut tea! (This is a great time to check for and remove rancid coconut teas!)

Yes! There’s nothing worse than rancid coconut ruining an otherwise lovely tea. :(

I am particularly sensitive to rancid-coconut-taste. If it is even a little off, I’ll be doing a spit take and throwing the remaining leaf in the trash.

Ah, this is so fun. I’m not convinced that I will remember to drink teas on the correct days, and I’m just going to track my progress on notes (who the heck knows how many teas I have now, 1500? and I don’t have a day to spend entering them all into a spreadsheet). But I love following everyone else’s progress too!

Good luck on your sipdowns!

I’m sorry I missed pizza day. I still have some Cocotte, which would have been perfect!

For those that enjoy planning ahead, here is the sneak-peak of April’s themes. Front post will be updated either March 31 or April 1st.

April Theme: An Ode to Tea – In honor of National Poetry Month, it’s time to get poetic with your tea drinking! In the style of the tried and true Alphabet Poem (a poem where each line of the poem begins with a letter in the alphabet, starting with A and moving in order through Z), drink a tea from your stash beginning with each letter of the alphabet! (Feel free to simply skip any you are missing). And if you really want to get into the poetic spirit, feel free to leave a haiku about your tea on April 17th, National Haiku Day!

And a few funsy days! Feel free to scavenger hunt through your cupboard and find a cuppa to drink that fits the theme for each of these days!

Saturday, April 3rd: National Find a Rainbow Day – Drink a tea that steeps up one of the colors of the rainbow!
Friday, April 9th: National Unicorn Day – Drink a tea that, to you, is pure magic!
Tuesday, April 13th: National Peach Cobbler Day – Drink a peach-flavored tea or a tea with peach flavor notes!
Thursday, April 22nd: International Mother Earth Day – Drink a tea that reminds you of our good planet! (Perhaps it has floral, fruity, or herbaceous ingredients, or a lovely floral or earthy flavor note!)
Wednesday, April 28th: National Superhero Day – Drink a tea that reminds you of a favorite superhero!

Ooh I love the alphabet idea! ❤

I’m really hoping haiku tasting notes will get trending on the 17th, hahaha. (Because I selfishly want to read them)

Yeah, the alphabet idea is fun. Another great themed month. :D

What a fun theme! And the rainbow day is enough for me to want to hunt down an indigo or violet tea. I haven’t had one of those in my cupboard in awhile.

Tea poetry thought:
Comforting highbrow Haiku!
No more limmericks.

Kittenna said

I’m getting ridiculously excited about this. I want to start drinking the alphabet and writing haikus NOW. Also, I just love reading all the themed tasting notes.

Also Super excited! I have only three letters missing (I,X,and Z)

Shae said

Missing U and X – does anyone have all the letters??

Kittenna said

My options are limited for a few letters (which could make finding the teas I think I have difficult) but I have everything except U in my spreadsheet. And just remembered that I have Unicorn Dream from DT so I should be good! I actually think I have teas from DavidsTea for every letter except X.

I’m pretty sure last I looked I’m missing Q and Z, but in my personal opinion poetry is all about creative interpretation, so I plan to use “Autumn Qing Mei Shan Old Arbor Sheng Pu-erh” for my Q tea and “Blueberrie-zzz!” for my Z tea.

Shae said

It was really bothering me that I was missing letters so I just bought my U and X teas. Doesn’t help at all with my sipdowns, but my brain feels better.

Kittenna said

@Shae- that makes me laugh! I probably would have tried to do the same, but I have all the letters covered sufficiently.

That kind of goes against the spirit of getting rid of tea, doesn’t it? :-P (I briefly did some searches to see what was out there for the letters I was missing, but had no interest in actually getting them. My tea-buying habits are pretty much nil until the stash I have is outta here)

Shae said

I’m glad to know I’m not alone in thinking this way, Kittenna. :D

And yes, it absolutely goes against the spirit of the sipdown! On a positive note, I did find a new-to-me tea company to try so that’s always fun. Now I really should take a break from the tea purchases for at least a few months. We’ll see how that goes…

I found a bottled tea from Fredmeyer’s that is called Xing Tea. I might try and get that for X day. haha
Also Zevia makes canned teas as well
