drank Toffee Apple by The Tea Crew

Finally getting around to trying this blend from Sewwie and it’s actually quite scrumptious and fantastic. I always get skeptical when I see toffee in a tea’s name because I’m so picky about my caramel/toffee teas but it was that exact right sort of dark and sticky sweet caramelized sugar flavour to perfectly convey it. Not too bright, with an overall “brown” dense quality. Though the baked apple finish was pleasant, it was the toffee element that made the tea in my opinion.

I’m currently trying to drink my way through several blends on my shelf that have been a little bit neglected. I chose this and Salted Caramel Lebuchken from Bird and Blend to try and finish, and this tea definitely wins the gingery chai contest.

The dry blend has a very strong scent of orange and ginger, while the tea itself has a much more balanced spice. The base tea is smooth and tasty, with strong notes of pepper and cinnamon within the blend. The only way this could be improved is slightly more orange peel in the blend instead of the sugar sprinkles – it would be lovely for the strong orange smell to come across in the flavour. Still, a delicious warming chai, and I’ll miss it when I run out.

This is a great tea. The problem is my flatmate agrees and therefore there wasn’t much left when i got home from summer holidays and i’ve been savoring the last spoonful (I’m kidding, my flatmate is a great guy and i’m happy to share tea with him)
it’s a lovely tea though, with a nice blend of floral notes and spices. I love both those things and they’re well balanced in this tea.

I was craving an apple tea, specifically one that would remind of the ones I remember having in Turkey, but I did not have any turkish apple teas in the collection at the moment. Therefore I went with this one…and it’s not the ticket. Maybe I’m being hash on it because it’s not what I was craving. It’s mostly just a black tea, but with some caramel undertones, and if you try really hard you can kind of get the apple in the distance. I’m not sold on this tea.

I like this one. It’s a bit absinthey with the anise and liquorice, and that happens to be a flavour I like. The licorice flavour is not too strong, either, so I think it would be more approachable than some other licorice teas.

This is, undoubtedly, one of my favourite teas in my collection. It’s warming and calming in a non-sleepy way due to the warm notes of clove and nutmeg but also the strong tea. A go to for any time of the day, preferably with milk and sugar for me personally to add a creamy note and make it almost taste like cake!

Flavors: Bitter, Clove, Nutmeg

Sipdown (1367)!

Liked this one even more the second time around – it was just so incredibly smooth and rich! The full bodied, earthiness of the pu’erh is cozy and comforting and it has notes of date/fig that rise up from the sweet rain soaked earth. The cherry is light and the vanilla in this cup just really tasted a lot like a perfect, fluffy marshmallow with just a bit of burnt sugar. So good!

Sipping this currently and finding it quite calming on a day where I’m a bit more stressed and tired than usual – it was a gift from my IG friend Sewwie so thank you for the swap and fun teas!! The flavouring here is pretty mild, which allows much more of the earthy and thick pu’erh notes to come through – it’s a very smooth and clean tasting shou and that robust body compliments the hints of vanilla and darker cherry flavour profile. Love the creamy notes that linger on the finish!

Tiffany :)

On my wish list this goes, love cherry and never had cherry vanilla puerh before! :D

Autistic Goblin

I love the name! I expect to see a cat and mouse picture on the tea though.

LuckyMe

@Autistic Goblin ditto here! I’d buy it for the name alone.
