I must admit, I’ve never tasted bourbon! However, I am a fan of both ginger and chocolate, so I decided to give this blend a try. This is definitely a very unique tea! There are so many different ingredients in here that I struggled to pick out one specific flavor. There are definitely hints of cocoa powder and the earthiness of yerba mate…and the spicy ginger kick lingers in the aftertaste. I don’t think this is something I’ll re-purchase, as I don’t see myself reaching for it very often. But I’m so glad I had the chance to try such an interesting blend!

This one’s not for me. Weak black tea with hints of hibiscus…not getting any berry and definitely no orange.

There are few things I enjoy more than a great vanilla tea. Unfortunately, this is not that. It’s ho-hum, drinkable but totally forgettable vanilla tea. A bland Ceylon base with a light, slightly artificial vanilla flavor. It’s not bad, but definitely not something I’d re-purchase. Give me Tippy’s Not So Vanilla or Indigo’s Vanilla Black over this one any day!

Flavors: Artificial, Vanilla

Hibiscus, how I loathe thee! I’ve lost count of the number of promising-sounding fruity tisanes that turned out to be nothing more than a cup of tart, bright pink hibiscus water. So frustrating! If I wanted hibiscus tea, I would buy it; I buy a tea with pear (or apple or strawberry or whatever) because I want to taste that fruit! Anyway, ranting aside…this is (obviously) one of those herbal blends that basically tastes like hibiscus with a tiny bit of fruit thrown in. Not the worst thing I’ve had, but definitely not what was promised by the name or description.

Flavors: Hibiscus

Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

I love hibiscus and am currently drinking it straight every day. Maybe I just got accustomed to sour tastes in childhood? That said, some fruit teas with hibiscus just taste bitter. Now that doesn’t work for me at all.

Inkling

It’s not that I hate the taste of hibiscus itself…I just hate how it completely takes over almost any blend you put it in and ruins the other flavors that are supposed to be there.

I feel bad, the Angry teas in the tins I sold you are probably Angry’s worst teas… please don’t give up on Angry just based on the teas in the tins. They have some good ones. :D

Inkling

Haha, no worries! I was glad for a chance to try and I saw from your reviews that you weren’t crazy about these ones either. They may be coming back to you in the TTB, though… ;)

Sipdown! Dominant flavors are cardamom, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice. It’s nice enough taken straight but I enjoy this tea best with some rice milk and pumpkin agave.

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge – October Tea #6-A dessert tea

Another excellent prompt option – this is one of my favorite dessert teas.  Not a sipdown of my full stash of this blend, but a sipdown for the amount I brought with me.  I wonder if this is a blend that Angry Tea Room sourced from Adagio… or I think Tschgwendner has the same blend…

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge Saturday, August 14th: National Creamsicle Day Tea #2

Another favorite.  Two creamsicle teas in one day? Why not.  Always a good steep here.  It just works with that rooibos base, better than the black tea base I had earlier.  I’m glad Angry tea room still has this in stock.

Additional notes: Is this the best orange tea? Possibly. Orange petals in the mix would have been even dreamier. I just had to buy three ounces recently in case it disappeared. This would probably be amazing steeped and then chilled in the fridge until cold. I’ll have to try that in summer.

I received this as a sample with my order and upon opening it and taking a whiff, I knew it would be exactly as I hoped! It has the scent of a melted creamsicle! Creamy, dreamy orange! The yogurt granules help with the creaminess. The rooibos is a perfect pairing with these flavors. Orange is one of the flavors I feel makes rooibos taste better and rooibos makes orange taste better. Even the second steep was full of flavor. So so good. I could drink this every night. Creamsicle fans, TRY THIS ONE!! I will definitely be ordering this with my next order from Angry Tea Room!

The tea opens with a wonderful peach scent. After steeping, it is a very nice fruity tea. Nice peach flavor and not artificial tasting at all. Great as a light afternoon tea.

Flavors: Flowers, Peach, Tree Fruit

Thanks for the sample with my order, Angry Tea Room! This is a lovely herbal blend. Lots of colorful ingredients — you could almost put them in a clear jar and gaze at them on a shelf. There are two types of apple here — I noticed one big apple slice with the skin… also a big piece of cinnamon. I used two teaspoons because the ingredients were so big. The flavor is on the lighter side, even with a five minute steep just after boiling. The brew results in a light pink color, so the hibiscus doesn’t do TOO much damage (at least in my two teaspoon serving anyway). The lovely cup definitely had an apple cider flavor going on — apple as the strongest flavor, slightly tangy from the hibiscus, and slightly spicy, mostly licorice from the anise. To make it even more flavorful, you could use three teaspoons… Overall, this is an acceptable tea — less flavor but not overwhelming hibiscus is good enough for me!

Holiday tea 2023 #8

A tea that started very meh, and not worthy of the “Christmas” name, is now an even meher cup of bubblegum. meh. bah humbug. However, I’m listening to My Morning Jacket’s new holiday album, which is helping. :D

Day #25!! Christmas! And the Advent Calendar is complete! Mainly, I loved this calendar so that I didn’t have to hem and haw over which tea to have every day. I always want to drink ALL the teas. Every day. This one is also almost just like the tea I had yesterday for the Advent, the Jolly Holiday. To me, this one is more like chai and has a stronger black tea base. I love chai but I expected the Christmas tea to have a little more special to it. Am I happy with buying the Advent? With the Cyber Monday sale, each tin of tea was only a little over a dollar anyway (with a few teaspoons in each tin) so even if there are only a couple I didn’t like, that seems okay for all of the teas in the Advent that I DO enjoy. (I think there was only ONE tea in the Advent I absolutely hated). It was something fun for the season! And I’ll have these teas all next December too. :D It’s sad I had to add most of Angry’s teas to the Steepster database. I hope I’m exploring Angry Tea Room’s teas enough that a few others take an interest. :D

I also had a sipdown of Bluebird’s Christmas Cake tea… but…. there is more on the way. Last order of any teas for a WHILE. Absolutely. I must.

You’ve definitely piqued my interest in Angry Tea Room! I don’t think I’d ever come across them before, but some of the teas in the advent calendar sound really tempting.

I hope you like the teas you try if you give them a chance. :D

Happy Holidays to all my Steepsterer buddies! Day #24! I was hoping this would be a scrumptious no-caffeine tea, seeing as how it is Christmas Eve but it’s another black tea. I could have sworn there was cinnamon here but there isn’t any in the ingredients. Hmm. I’m not really sure what I was tasting in this blend. So this tasting note is a little pointless. I like the similar Cinnamon Orange Spice earlier in the Advent Calendar better.

Additional notes: I had to try this again before storing my advent away again for another year. :D I wanted to try steeping this again like Adagio’s Gingerbread tea which I SUSPECT is the same tea, but I’m not sure. I think steeping this one like Adagio’s made the flavor better, but it still isn’t as delicious as the Adagio blend. Maybe it’s the same tea but the ‘harvest’ year is different, so the harvest is improved or the flavoring was perfected more. I don’t think it’s age with this one as it actually tastes better this time than when I originally tried it. The base seems more like a watery Ceylon but the cookie flavor does come out more than the first time.

Day #23 is tasty but not entirely accurate Gingerbread Cookie tea. The flavor is nice, but I would NEVER guess it was supposed to taste like gingerbread cookie. It definitely is a tasty and unique flavor, but I wasn’t even tasting ginger. There isn’t a ton of additional elements to the blend other than the black tea, but there is more flavor than I was expecting to find. It’s hard to describe!

Holiday tea 2023 #2

Well, this holiday favorite went along in the suitcase, and since I have a headache today, it’s the perfect time to steep it up. It’s always so good. Candy cane perfection + black tea = YUM.

Dustin

Hope the tea helps the head!

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge – September Tea #9-A tea with a strong aroma

I feel if any tea is worth its salt, it should probably have a strong aroma, so I think many teas would be appropriate for this aroma prompt!  But I went with this one… the best candy cane tea.  Sadly it seems Angry Tea Room has folded.  Even though I will still be working on their Christmas advent from many years ago this year. (Possibly they made their advents too big?  But that is why I bought it. :D)  Anyway, I couldn’t ask for more from a candy cane tea.  Fierce mint and sweet from actual candy cane pieces.   Could I throw in my own candy canes to a black tea?  Sure.  But I like the perfect balance here.  Also, just want to throw in that my current book is ‘Hell of a Book’ by Jason Mott and it’s a special book.

Cameron B.

It seemed like a lot of their teas were from Adagio so maybe this one is too?

tea-sipper

yep – I already tracked it. The Adagio blend is called…wait for it… Candy Cane. :D

Additional notes: Advent today and it’s one my favorites! Such amazing creamy mintiness. So much my favorite that I finished the advent tin today so it’s a… SIPDOWN. The first tin I actually finished from the advent without sending it to someone else. Except I have a pouch of it but I count each package of a tea as a sipdown. It’s the perfect creamy mint tea. Oh good… they still have this available on their website… for now.

Additional notes… Mmmmm… this is simply the Candy Cane tea for me. It’s perfection. Creamy and minty and a strong black base. Glad I bought a big pouch from Angry Tea Room!

Happy new year, Steepsterers! I’m sipping this one again… the favorite from the Angry Tea Room Advent calendar. I’m definitely ordering this one on my next order. I also like to sweeten it with even MORE candy cane by plopping in half a candy cane…. mainly because I have a headache and peppermint helps.

Nattie

Happy new year!

Happy New Year to you!

Day #22 is one of my favorite blends in this Advent so far! Oh man, it is the perfect Candy Cane tea! I would definitely stock up on this one. As a dry blend, the mint had more of a catnip flavor. haha. But brewed, the peppermint is strong and perfect. I love that candy cane pieces are included. Gives it that extra sweetness and peppermint. I could have sworn there was also some actual vanilla here as well, but that just might be the magic of this blend. A strong black tea with plenty of peppermint and a hint of creamy sweetness. The second cup was just as flavorful!

Day #21 is another unique blend! White tea with almond, bergamot, cardamom and vanilla is certainly something I’ve never seen before. I probably shouldn’t have used two teaspoons as the white tea leaves were very small… maybe that is just my sample. I didn’t steep it well enough, so the cups resulted in bitter brews. The color of the brew actually looked like Darjeeling or something (a faint red color of a light black tea), so that was very odd to see for a white tea. Otherwise, I was tasting hints of sweet almond and bergamot. Odd combination but it works here. I’ll try to steep it correctly in the future!
I must say I liked the layout of this Advent calendar better than I thought I would. You can’t really see it in the picture, but within the clear box there are four clear trays that four layers of six teas sit it…. the tea tins fit into the trays perfectly, so it stays organized. It would be a jumbled mess if those those trays weren’t there!

Additional notes: From the advent. I guess this one is growing on me more than the 72 rating I originally gave it. It’s an odd blend with odd things in it. I just wish splenda wasn’t one of them. My blend itself looks like there is even more odd stuff in it though, some odd leafy thing… a twig…. something else, I forget now but it was odd… I guess the odd ingredients meld together to create something like eggnog.

Mastress Alita

At least of those odd things there isn’t citrus.

tea-sipper

Yep, B&B’s Eggnog is probably why I upped the rating on this one. haha
