A really nice, soft treat. The liquor is very light, a little yellowish and clear. It has a fairly floral nose and some vegetal notes, almost somewhat like a green tea, but not nearly as strong.

It’s surprisingly sweet throughout the whole sip. You get a good amount of sweetness when it first hits your tongue, then it recedes a little, but comes back the strongest farther back in your mouth. It finishes nice and sweet with an almost buttery flavor.

It’s light, but at the same time feels like it’s coating my tongue (in a good way) which I think may be where the buttery flavor sensation comes from. A good white tea with some flavor complexity and unusual notes that make it stand out from other plain whites.

It was light because you didn’t read the instructions.

My friend sent this to me, she has a friend that sells it.

I had to look up neem, never heard of it. Apparently it is a miracle plant. Cures skin ailments, it’s a male contraceptive, it keeps your blood sugar stable and wards off diabetes, it can cure chicken pox by laying down on the leaves, it makes a mean curry, and you shouldn’t drink it if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. Man, that’s some crazy stuff! Now I wonder what my friend was trying to tell me when she sent this! haha!

So the bag (yes, bag. Forgive her, she doesn’t know. But it does also come loose leaf.) smells like when I walk into the big greenhouse in Golden Gate Park. Very floral, very lush. Not one particular flower, just a smell that is a mix of a lot of flowers, orchids, roses, tropical flowers.

Steeped, the liquid is dark dark, black tea. The scent is still there. In taste, the scent lends some to the flavor, but otherwise disappears. Which sounds disappointing at first, but really, I don’t know that I would like orchid tea. Orchids I love, they are beautiful, but don’t look like they would taste good.

I do like the mild flavor of this, the scent brings me back to my childhood always visiting that conservatory with my family and the rose garden outside. Good thing I’m not pregnant or trying to get pregnant. I have some neem nectar tea when I’m at work, so it’s a forgiving tea (I need that at work). I look forward to it every time!

My first tea from Teatulia, I can’t wait to try the rest!

This tea is brisk but not super astringent so it’s just my speed. I’m going to have to try this one iced as well. The leaves really are beautiful, they’re elegantly long and twisted.

This in an interesting take on an earl grey. A bit too much bermot for my taste though. I actually felt like I had oil coating my mouth and throat.

Ah, the joys of drinking furniture polish! Okay, I’m kidding. A little bit. But show me someone that doesn’t think of Pledge when smelling this and I’ll show you someone that needs to dust more.

I’ve never had Lemongrass straight before, but now thanks to TeaEqualsBliss’s generosity, I can! I thought today was a good day for it since I seem to be fighting off a cold or some other illness most likely related to getting caught in the rain yesterday. Herbals always throw me off since I measure my tea by weight but I’m never sure how much of non-tea leaf to use. A lot of times I’ll use the same .5g/1oz ratio I use for greens and oolongs but if I did that for this, I’d probably be using way too much lemongrass since this is some pretty light stuff. So I did a generous heaping teaspoon for my 10oz then rounded that amount up to an even 2g.

The smell definitely makes me think of Pledge (though perhaps you wouldn’t assume that I could make such an association, given how dusty my house is). But it smells like a tasty, sophisticated version of Pledge. Lemon-fresh without the chemical foam. The taste, thankfully, is not like Pledge. It’s darker and a little grassy with a bright citrus sparkle that makes it feel clean and refreshing and reminds me more of lemon rind than lemon juice. It’s sweet and thankfully not tart or astringent. Just really tasty. And it’s kind of making me feel like my sinuses have been given a light dusting.

This is by far the tastiest furniture polish I’ve ever had the pleasure to sip. Thanks TeaEqualsBliss!

ETA: The second steep (7:00) has more lemon flavor but also more grass flavor, making this almost like a very strongly flavored green tea.

Tasting this tea this morning – courtesy of TeaEqualsBliss ~ Thank you so much!

This is a pleasantly brisk tea but not as bold as I was expecting. This tea is quite smooth with hints of sweetness. Very little bitterness, although I do notice just a touch about mid-sip, but the tea recovers with a sweetness in the finish.

Trying this one courtesy of TeaEqualsBliss – my SororiTEA Sister!

(And you should check out our blog if you haven’t yet… or even if you have, because we’re posting reviews daily!)

http://sororitea.wordpress.com

This one is kind of weird. I don’t necessarily mean that in a good or a bad way (mostly because I haven’t really decided yet)

I tried it first unsweetened (as I do with all teas) and this one definitely does better with a little sweetener as it is just a bit too bitter for my liking without it. I added a drizzle of agave nectar and that really improved the flavor for me. There is still some bitterness which doesn’t taste like a “tea” bitterness, so I am going to attribute it to the Neem – which is an herb with which I’m unfamiliar… so I don’t know how it really tastes except based upon this cuppa. It isn’t a foul bitterness or even unpleasant, but its there.

It also has a very pleasant aroma that I enjoy (both the dry leaf and the brewed liquor).

It is an enjoyable cup, a robust tea that invigorates. I’m glad I had the opportunity to try it.

I instantly put it on my shopping list as soon as I read “weird”!:) That makes an even 1300:)

Ricky

Now all you guys have to do is make your own line of tea. :)

Cofftea

LiberTEAS already did that Ricky:)

They don’t have a sororitea brand though :)

The neem gives this strong black tea a subtle sweetness. The flavor is hard to pinpoint but it reminds me of chocolate. From a distance it smells slightly fruity or cake-like. It has a cooling aftertaste too. I’m glad I went with a short infusion time, it seems like other people had some trouble with bitterness.

I still have quite a few new teas to sample but no black or black flavors and I wanted one before sampling those so I randomly chose this one from my stash! Still a fairly new new addition to my collection and I really like it! Take a look at my previous review! I think I might have one more black/black flavored tea before transitioning into my NEW ones for review today!

Oh-How-I-Love-TEA!

This Loose Leaf Dry Leaf Smell is CLEAN and Crisp! The color is a reddish dark brown. It’s strong and bold and malty and I like it. It’s true black tea but with a black sweetness I can’t seem to shake. Yet another good stand-bye from Teatulia but there is just something about this one that I like a tad better. I have a feeling I will be going thru this pouch quickly!

Ginger in teas or tisanes scare me. Ginger is VERY hit and miss. I think many attempts are either fake tasting or they WAY over do it. I like GINGER in food…but tea…well, again…it’s hit/miss.

This Herbal Infusion is quite good. I can taste the Ginger but it’s certainly not over the top. If you are looking for stereotypical stand-alone over the top Ginger taste – I don’t think this is your cuppa…or maybe it is…try it…see what happens. As for me…I’m enjoying it…which seriously surprises me.

I think it’s because the Ginger is accompanied by Vasaka Leaf…so it’s more than just pure ginger. To learn more about Vasaka Leaf check this out…

I will say this is better REALLY hot – as it cools the ginger and herb combo really comes thru…not sure if I like that as well…

Doing the bagged version today…not too shabby :P

It’s not as strong but pretty darn like I remember it my first time around.

I either infused too much of this today or for a different amount…it’s not what I remember!! Oye! It kind of tasted a little like plastic but it’s never been in plastic! Just a slight plastic taste but still a plastic taste…

Kristin

What is the tea stored in?

TeaEqualsBliss

I ran out of tins for storage but it has been in a cool dry place it’s a foil-lined envelop…no plastic tho. The outside of it is a recycled paper bag but like I said the inside is a foil-line…I know – not the best way to storage but I ran out of my other storage sources! LOl

Kristin

I was making sure it wasn’t in a ziploc bag or something. That would definitely make it taste like plastic after a while.

Black Tea and Basil is what it smells like. It brews/infuses very quickly to a dark, dark brown liquor with almost purplish tone to it. Post Infusion it smells like Black Tea, Basil, and a bit toasty.

I guess it even has a bit of a masculine cologne scent to it a little, too!

It’s malty, bold, dark, and strong! It does have a bit of natural spice to it but it’s more of a sidekick than interrupting the taste.

This is nice.

Rabs

Thanks for the link – I’d never heard of Tulsi. Color me intrigued!

TeaEqualsBliss

I tried one other Tulsi Tea before…it was a sister company of Frontier Co-op but it wasn’t as good as this…this is NICE!

Well, not much to really say about this because it’s Plain. Black. Tea. It’s their Signature Blend…and it’s a good-ole-standby…but, yes, it’s a malty, black tea.
