This is a fairly tasty ripe with a fair amount of fermentation flavor to it. I didn’t get any fishy taste but then again I am not too susceptible to that. It brewed up dark and rich you could say. It was pretty much black in the early steeps but I used a lot of tea. It was also somewhat bitter. This slowly went away and I was left with something sweet. There was, however, a negative note to this tea, it was slightly sour early on. This went away too. Overall, over the course of eleven steeps in my Yixing I really liked this. It was cheap and inexpensive, only $8 for 100g of loose tea. When I went to put it in the catalog I noticed,however that they are out of stock. This is not of the quality level of a Mandala loose ripe but it was enjoyable. I give it an overall decent score.

I steeped this tea eleven times in a 85ml Yixing teapot with 8g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, and 1.5 min.

I use to read about fermentation flavour… WHat do mean with fermentation flavour?

When they make a ripe tea the flavor of the fermentation process is left behind in the tea. It generally clears over time with proper storage. This one hadn’t cleared.

It generally takes between 5 and 10 years for a tea to be free from fermentation flavor.

I think it is almost like licorice flavor is as close as I can describe it.
