It helps that I had this tea for the first time in Colombo while enjoying a lazy afternoon with friends, but I do think I would love this tea anyway. The cinnamon is in perfect balance with a delightful ceylon black. This tea transports me to Sri Lanka every time I pour myself a cup of it!

It was the first ceylon tea in my life. And I’d like to recommend this product to tea-newbie. Because, this tea is so simple taste and perfect epitome of Ceylon tea.

I got a sample teabag of this from an order I placed last year for their Earl Grey. I hadn’t heard of the company before but browsing their website I see they have a large variety of flavoured tea bags and offer them all over the world so that gives me some hope for this tea.

This is my lunch time tea (or brunch since I didn’t have one for breakfast) and will be served with some milk. Ok it turns out I have no milk left so I will add a bit of sweetener. (Note to self – buy milk)

It’s milder than I was expecting, in fact it’s smooth for a Ceylon and of medium strength. I can taste malt and fruit, like raisins or fig, rather clean tasting too ie no dry or astringent after taste. I do remember their Earl Grey being rather mild/medium in strength, perhaps their range is the same way? I can’t really say without trying.

I would say this was average, good for those that drink black teas without milk or sugar but not great for those that love strong/bold black teas (such as myself). Not terrible just not for me.

Another eBay purchase, I’ve been doing that a lot lately. It’s unusual that I should buy bagged tea like this one but if the price is right I will try anything.

When I open the cellophane a strong bergamot and citrus smell was unleashed. The teas are enclosed into little individual sachets so they are handy to transport (pop into a hand bag or wallet :)

A drop of milk has been added. Once brewed the tea has a gentle bergamot scent with a touch of lemon. In flavour it’s quite mellow and smooth but also slightly sweet with a hint of bergamot and citrus fruit. For a bagged tea it’s very inoffensive and quite pleasing. My husband said it’s going down very well and asked if he could take the rest to work. That’s great for me, while this is a nice tea it’s not to my preferred strength standard so I would have to risk longer steeps which would risk harshness in flavour.

I would drink this again if I was in the mood for nothing particularly special (that didn’t require me to break out a Gongfu or Gaiwan).

Rich ceylon tea flavor, with a hint of blueberries. I like how the fruity taste isn’t overpowering at all and comes to you first as a scent, then as the aftertaste. It’s very understated.
