LiberTEAs Thank you for this!

I really like it when chai’s add that lil bit o Citrus to the mix! This one did just that! The spices aren’t overly spicy and there is just a touch of citrus. If you are looking for a super spicy chai this might not be as intense as you are looking for BUT I find this very nice! It even ends a little juicy and creamy with a bit of a kick!

This is very comforting! Just what I need today! YUM!

Special thanks to The Purrfect Cup for this one! This seems ‘cleaner’ than most Genmaicha’s I have tried…at least to look at the post-infused liquid, that is. It has that over the top roasty/toasty popped corn/popped rice aroma – but it sure is welcomed!

WOW

Yeah.

This is GOOD. This is better than good!

This is a WONDERFUL Genmaicha. Among the best I have tried!
It IS clean as well as roasty/toasty/popped/and GREEN. Very lovely!

Tea_is_wisdom

This one sounds good. I am mostly a Oolong lover a long with ripe and raw puerh. As for green tea the one I go to most is Long Jing. Always wanted to give a good quality Genmaicha a try. Will have to add one to the list to try. Thanks for the review.

TeaBrat

oooh, I am going to Washington Dc later this month, I might need to go there!

Nick

Funny story is I almost worked at Capitol Teas, I worked at the Teavana in Annapolis and was offered at job at the Capitol Teas in downtown Annapolis but ended up staying at Teavana since my boss gave me a slight raise. Ha but anyways, I’ve been looking to try a Genmaicha, as someone whos tried many kinds would you recommend this to start?

So…I’m having Eggplant for lunch and it’s really good. I’m having this tea with it. It’s from The Purrfect Cup! Thanks!!!

A nice medium strength black tea…nice and even from start to finish! Slightly floral and a bit brisk! Very nice, indeed!

Thanks LiberTEAs!

Peachy and Floral Notes sum this one up! The Green Tea is more powerful than the Black and the flavors are more powerful than both the black and green tea bases. Having said that…it’s pretty darned tasty! I like this! Both hot and cold!

Thanks Liberteas!

Now THIS is the Jasmine for me! It’s not artificial, stale, or soapy tasting. It doesn’t leave a funky aftertaste. YAY! He’s a semi-sweet floral. The hand-tied designer knots of the leaves are lovely and a work of art!

Very nice – all around!

Special Thanks to LiberTEAs for this! I have been wanting to try this one!!! I actually did try it a few times last week and enjoyed it but didn’t have enough time to properly jot down tasting notes. So…here we go…

I can smell the cream! It infuses to a medium brown color. For taste…I can pick out the Earl Grey Flavors and the bergamot…it’s not the astringent bergamot kind of taste but more of a lemon and orange combo of bergamot. There is a hint of cream but the black and white tea flavors stomp on the cream hints a bit. I’m ok with that. The Rose and other floral flavors are fairly loud, too. It being a Royal Wedding Blend the ingredients make sense and seem to blend well together and the extra ingredients make it special, too. The perfume-type aroma edges towards the floral bouquets surrounding the ceremony as they do in this tea.

Neat blend of teas and flavors. I appreciate this very much!

Afternoon tea at work. I love that this is a “forgiving” green tea…meaning it responds well to folks who leave it steeping too long (like I just did). It doesn’t get bitter it just seems to come out perfect no matter how I prep it! Toasty comes to mind with this one and I love it…yes I love a green tea…let Steeperites rejoice. ;)

I don’t tend to enjoy green teas. I drink them but I don’t “get” them. Hopefully you all are following me. Anyway I think I found a green I can get behind! The toasty and nutty flavor is awesome in this green tea. So flavorful and yes I may have eaten the rice pieces too. I can’t describe the smell for you because I can’t really smell a thing at the moment. But I will tell you this has turned into my afternoon go to cup since i picked it up last weekend in DC. :)

First tea of the morning. I picked this up last weekend in DC for a friend of mine and I snagged a cups worth for myself from the tin this morning…shhh! I needed a little pick me up and this did just the trick! Rich and bold the perfect morning wake up for me today. There is a little hint of honey to this one and I liked that too. I did steep this a little too long and needed to add one cube of sugar to it…but that’s it. Yum!

I want to thank LiberTEAs for this one! :)

Other Mexican Chili Mate type tea/tisane’s I have had have been ‘ok’ but no overly my thing! With this one, tho, I really like it! Perhaps it’s the addition of the MANGO…not sure…but this is pretty good! There is a LOT going on! Green Tea, Rooibos, Mate, Fruit, Flavors, Flowers, Nuts, Herbs! WOW!

The Chili is pretty intense but I like it! There are other secondary flavors that help back it up! The Mango is right behind the Chili. The rose, Ginseng, Orange, and Cherry follow. The other ingredients are more subtle! Everything seems to have it’s role in this! It’s very involved and quite unique! Nicely done!

Kittenna

This sounds like a really interesting combination! adds to shopping list

I have a tin of that! It’s pretty great.

Doesn’t sound bad, I do love those mango slices with the chili powder on them!

Tried this at the Coffee & Tea Festival in NYC….

Eh. Nothing special. No real cream flavor to it. If it was just a plain Earl Grey, I probably would have to rate it higher. But being they are calling it a Cream Earl Grey, it doesn’t live up to its name.

Sipdown, 145. Woohoo, finally finishing this tea! I bought this a year and a half ago at the NY Coffee and Tea Festival, but then was immediately unimpressed by it once I got home. Then I had a whole tin of sachets and no desire to drink them. But I discovered that I do enjoy this one as a cold brew. It is creamy and bergamotty and all in all pretty tasty. Tasty enough that I have now finished it! It feels like a triumph.

Home sick, so my tea stash is limited (most of my tea is at work). Fortunately my symptoms today are mainly sore throat and not much stuffiness, so I can taste fine.

I am not sure what the deal is with this tea. When I tasted it last year at the NY Coffee and Tea festival, I liked it a lot, enough to grab a whole large tin of sachets. But at home I just can’t get back that super creamy, almost caramely flavor, not to mention astringency from the bergamot. It always ends up kind of meh, which is why it is going to take me forever to drink it.

They must have added a secret ingredient when you first drank it.

This ended up being the only tea I purchased at the NYC Coffee and Tea Festival. Not much really grabbed me this time, and the one other company I might have bought tea from (and an adorable little gaiwan-teapot-thing) was chinese, so I held off because of my impending travels. When I tried a sample of this tea, though, I was pretty impressed. So creamy and vanilla-y! Even though I already have a bunch of a cream Earl Grey winging it’s way to me from the Tea Spot, I bought a tin of this and justified it because it is in sachets… traveling EGC!

Now to taste it under my steeping conditions (which for this first cup were boiling water for 3 minutes). The tea in the sachets smells very vanilla and cream, at a level where there is just about a caramel note to them. And of course the bright bergamot. The aroma of the steeped tea has calmed down a bit, but retains about the same balance of notes.

The flavor is a little odd. I mean, it’s not bad; there’s no bitterness or astringency to the blend, but the main part of the sip is just… flat. Like there’s very little there. There is a lovely vanilla-creamy aftertaste, but not much going on in the main part of the sip. Maybe I need to steep longer, or maybe one sachet was not enough for my 12oz mug (but that does seem to line up with their steeping recommendations on the website). Actually I apparently brewed it hotter than they recommend, so maybe that’s having an effect.

… Take two, this time brewed at 195°F for 4 minutes. I just couldn’t let my experience be dictated by that cup when I remembered it differently. This one actually wasn’t as good because the bergamot is more astringent and the lovely vanilla creaminess seems to have fled! I guess more leaf at my previous parameters is next. Ugh, I hate it when I can’t replicate a tasting experience that was so much better, even when following the steeping instructions a company gives.

… Take three, this time original steeping parameters in an 8oz mug instead of a 12oz. I checked, the sachet is 2tsp of tea, which should be for 12oz according to their instructions. Closer but not quite it! There is more flavor overall, including the bergamot and the vanilla. So close, but yet so far away! I’m going to have to stop these permutations now because my taste buds are getting overwhelmed by built-up astringency, but hopefully I can try it again later.

I tried this one too. I didn’t care for it. I didn’t get much of a cream flavor.

Dinosara

It’s so weird because I totally did at the tasting! I don’t know what the deal was.

SunnyinNY

Funny because I didn’t care for it at all at the show. I didn’t get anything more than a plain Earl Grey taste. No cream at all. Maybe I didn’t get a first brew? Possible. But it didn’t even have a strong smell to it. Odd.

I’m LOVING this commemorative blend. I was a bit unsure about it at first, as it is a blend with both black and white teas and I sometimes find these to be a bit disagreeable because the white tea needs a lower temperature which doesn’t always do the black tea justice. However, I find that just enough of the black tea flavor comes through here and it’s lighter flavor helps the white tea to shine through.

The sharp, tangy flavor of the bergamot is softened by the sweet, creamy flavor of vanilla in the blend, and I find that the rose in the blend accentuates the bergamot, bringing the floral tones of this citrus fruit into focus.

A very pleasant blend, I like it very much.

I LOVE this jasmine tea. It has a nice balance between white tea/green tea and jasmine flavor. Capital Teas calls this a green tea, but, it is a silver needle tea which I consider to be a white tea, but, whatever.

Anyway, the jasmine is strong, but it doesn’t overwhelm the flavor of the tea. It is smooth and sweet and not artificial tasting or soapy tasting. Just floral and delicious. I love it.

This is a fabulous tea! The flavor of the peach is very rich and sweet and juicy! It tastes very authentic, like a fresh, ripe peach. YUM!

I like also that I can taste both the black and the green teas in this blend, the green tea tastes light and slightly vegetative, while the black tea adds an earthiness and gives it a very well-rounded sort of taste.

A very pleasant tea to sip. I started sipping on this when it was hot, and I went back to refill my cup and let it cool, and it is awesome cooled too – it would be a great iced tea.

This is one of my afternoon, go-to “teas”. The slight creaminess of the yogurt and rooibos complement the crisp, bright blueberry flavours. I also like that this is a re-steeper. Certainly not as rich the second time, but just as lovely :)
