Recieved this one today ( 1/4 ) aurateas samples! Very generous sample sizes I must add as well. Lets start with the appearance of this tea: it had big juicy looking leaves that left me curious about the flavor of the particular taiwanese oolong. The scent smelled neutral nothing really stuck out – just a normal tea smell. I began to steep as I later enjoyed this tea with my mom. The tea had a medium flavor that wasn’t too delicate yet not too pronounced. It went well as a digestive and had a nice color too it. It was a beautiful honey color that inticed me extremly! As for the flavor, it was present and pleasing. Very impressed with this taiwanese oolong! My mom enjoyed it as well which is always fun to see :) I have been drinking a lot of berry and floral teavana teas recently and this one was really a great change from that! definately not floral and berry like, just a flat out solid tea!

AuraTeas sent me 4 free Oolong samples (an offer on their facebook page). This is the first one. This oolong is a little grassy and is chewy. It has floral and fruity (peach) notes at the end of the sip and in the aftertaste. The beginning of the sip is grassy. It brewed up to a beautiful golden yellow color. I like it. I don’t love it. But, I don’t personally like teas on the grassy end of the spectrum.

Nice, warm, rich, and toasty oolong. Slight bit of fruit in this. Lovely.

I only have enough leaf for one more sitting after today. I’m on my 4 infusion right now with plans to keep going until I’m just drinking hot water. This tea is so easy to sip on all day. Hot, lukewarm, cool…they are all just wonderful cups. See my past notes for details on the tea.

My tea shopping list is about to catch up with my “Books to Buy/Read” list.

…and that is quite a thing.

Roasty and toasty, indeed. I really like the flavor of this tea. It’s a traditional tasting oolong in every way except the final kick of roasted/toasted, nutty notes. The color of the liquor is so light…I’m surprised it packs this much of a punch. It reminds me of Soba-Cha, but much more complex. Medium to Dark roasted oolongs are my preference, and this one is one of the best ones I’ve ever had. It’s nice to have an oolong that tastes just like an oolong…none of the green/vegetal notes are present at all. I might have found the right tea for my brand new Yixing pot. Maybe…I’ve had it since Christmas and still have not decided on a tea. It’s a big decision for me. :)

Major props to TeaEqualsBliss for including this one in our swap. I have found a new gem! Yay!

Toasted, Roasted, and Earthy!

A light brown in color.

Slightly Woodsy to taste. Makes me feel like I am out in the woods or should be camping in the fall or something. Nice nature tea!

Doubling it up and going for multiple infusions since this is my last bit in my stash.

1st infusion…see initial review…additional notes…the only difference so far is the after taste isn’t present this time. It’s also sweeter than I remember it.

Extreme Vegetable Scent. Leaves seem to be taking a little longer than usual to open…maybe a sign – good for multiple infusions!? Not sure…maybe.

Light yellow in color once infused…near clear. Tastes like butter/roasted veggies.

A slight but not-bothersome aftertaste.

Dry Loose Leaf smells floral. As it infuses it smells like wet wood. Liquid after infusion doesn’t have much or an aroma. It’s very light in color…a yellowish-green. It’s not an overpowering taste by any means. It’s very delicate and mellow. It does have some really tasty sweetness to it tho. A nice relaxing tea!

Shanti

Wet wood? That actually sounds good right now… I’m imagining a damp piece of sweet smelling wood—hope you don’t mean moldy, LOL!

TeaEqualsBliss

Nope…you got it! On the nose! NOT moldy LOL

Angrboda

Oooooh Baihao! I remember having tried that one from Teaspring once and really liked it, but when I went to order more they were sold out. I wish I could remember if I included it in the Teaspring order I’m waiting for… (I hope I did. You inspired me)

Today I am saying GOODBYE to another LOVE…this one is juicy yet GREEN and semi veggie but semi sweet…love it. Will miss it. I’m thinking about drinking GREEN TEA for the rest of the day because it’s St. Patty’s Day…but I am not sure if I will be successful! :P

First cup of the day! I usually don’t start with a green as a first one of the day – no real reason, just not normal for me…

Anyhow…this smells like steaming veggies

As I sip it starts tasting like buttered veggies

It’s veggie-like, a bit nutty, with a bit of sweetness poking thru! It’s a green tea, indeed, but no funky aftertaste…it’s surprisingly smooth!

I like it!

Just finished up this from my stash…I liked it better than I remember…so I am upping the rating a bit more. VERY SMOOTH.

This has a sweet leaf smell to it. It’s very very light in color…of the lightest black teas I have seen! Looks like an Oolong! The taste has a cake-like finish. The beginning of the sip almost a sweet-woodsy taste. I will say that it’s very different than any black tea I have ever had. The more I drink the more of a sweetness I can taste…not sure if it’s honey-like but oh well. Actually I think the texture is more honey-esque than the taste…but that could just be me…

Bethany

Mmm, this sounds good!

TeaEqualsBliss

Okay…weird…the more it sits and the more I sip and the more it cools I can start tasting the honey-likeness = maybe because I was “looking” for it…I don’t know…

Hi, have you tried the Tie Guan Yin from Chicago Tea Garden? Just wondering how they compare. http://bit.ly/dCjcEC

Just got some free samples in the mail for following them on facebook! Woot!
This is the first one I am trying.

The smell is neat…like a minty celery.

I believe this is going to be one of their new teas so I haven’t been able to locate it on their website yet.

Taste-wise it’s an interesting full flavor type Tie Guan Yin. I think it tasted much like it smells…a clean celery-mint type taste. It’s smooth and buttery. Very Nice!

This looks like black tea leaves that are twisted up. This smells like black tea. I steeped this up. This tastes like a medium strength black tea with abit of honey. This I’s good.

I received a little package this morning from auraTeas this morning with six little tea samples in it. The first one I picked out to try – the tea that had sparked my interest in the company – was the Formosa Natural Wuhe Honey Black Tea.

This has the smoothest mouthfeel of any tea I’ve ever tasted. It’s amazing – it almost feels silky! There is sweet honey, but it isn’t cloying at all. It’s very delicate, and blends wholly with the black tea. There isn’t a hint of bitterness!

I feel very peaceful and blissed out as I drink this. It’s just so…balanced. I’m definitely going to have to order more – my sample’s already all used up!

takgoti

Ooooh, that sounds delightful! Now I’m going to have to give this vendor a look.

Suzi

It’s really nice! I usually don’t go for resteeps but I think I’m on my third infusion for this tea, and the flavor’s still quite good :D
