1796 Tasting Notes
This tastes nothing like pecan pie, but I’m really enjoying it (I actually had it both the morning and night yesterday, which I rarely do). It’s more of a creme brûlée flavor than anything, which I’m absolutely not mad about. Raisins are listed on the ingredients, but I didn’t see any either time I had a cup…not sure how much a raisin would contribute to the overall flavor though.
This smells incredibly sweet and caramely. Unfortunately, even with the addition of honey, it reminds me of a bowl of oatmeal. Specifically, a bowl of oatmeal covered in whiskey and honey that I had in Northern Ireland. While I’m enjoying the flavor and the nostalgia it’s stirred up, it’s not quite the caramel flavor I was looking for.
This is SMOKY. The combination of the lapsang and blend of spices makes it very much a BBQ experience. I actually like it, I just chose the wrong time to drink it (it’s 100degrees outside). This will be excellent when it’s chilly out.
Made this western style with some of my new infused maple syrup. The brand WytchWood has been on my radar for awhile, and they just came out with a pumpkin spice infused syrup, so I caved and placed an order. I also got their Gingerbread Marshmallow infused maple syrup as well, which is what I used here. SO GOOD. The caramelization of the hojicha is really amplified by the syrup and creates such a cozy, comforting tea experience. This hojicha continues to be my favorite.
First cup for the year, and I stand by my perfect rating. I find this to be the ultimate comforting, cozy fall flavor. Steeped directly in an oat milk/water combo on the stove. I still have 10oz from last year, which I’m going to sip down a bit before purchasing more, so hopefully it stays in stock for a little while longer.
Everyone was saying such great things about this last year, but it sold out too fast for me to get to try it. I’m glad they brought it back and I buckled and ordered some this year so I could finally see what the buzz is about!
I’ll admit- I got this tea because the name/image make me laugh. Luckily, this is a really tasty autumn blend! A bit roast, with some squashiness, a touch of spice, and a pronounced sweet almond flavor. Really enjoying it.
