15061 Tasting Notes
Funnily enough, I also picked this one out of my cupboard today. Maybe Terri and i were operating on the same wavelength today or something. :) In the grand scheme of things, this is an average tea. It’s certainly not worth the price in my opinion (9.50 per ounce). Not that it’s an outrageous price but LB is cheaper than that, as is #49 (which is super cheap at 2.50 an ounce or something?) or teavivre’s black dragon pearls etc… long story short, there are better for that price. :) However, i certainly didn’t pay that price as i got a super awesome deal on this one, which makes it much easier to swallow. HA! get it.. yeah… in any case, there’s an astringency here that i’m not a fan of but it’s not so much that i can’t enjoy this tea today. :)
there’s a certain freedom that comes from having cleaned up your cupboard and made it under 200 without ordering anymore. I totally took a break today from worrying about old teas or sipdowns. I will still try to get my one in when i get home tonight, but this morning’s teas were all about enjoying teas. I picked this one, since it’s out of the box of teas i’m not allowed to open until there is more room in my cupboard. It’s been a while since i’ve had this one and man it is STILL delicious. I am loving it!
sipdown! And since i know there isn’t likely to be another cup of tea this evening, i can say that i managed to end this weekend at 193! Even if i count the 3 verdant blends that won’t show up at my place for another two weeks, i’m still under 200 so ha! go me! roughly 39 days left until black friday (i lose a week with vacation) that’s 43 teas….so 1 a day! I can totally do that…especially since i still have some samples from dinosara to work through and a few left from terri. It’s all coming together now folks! oh yeah!
This is a pretty tasty tea. After letting it steep for 8 mins or so, i get more of the cantaloupe taste that others have mentioned…only it’s spicey cantaloupe…and delicious. and that..makes this a good tea!
Yeah I’ll be stalled at 142 until next Monday! Funny that we both have approximately the same amount of teas to go to get to our Black Friday goals (42/43)
I need to get rolling on sipdowns!!! ughghghgh!
At least I still haven’t bought any new teas this month, but when we had our sipdown competition I pretty much drank everything that was within reach of being polished off. On the other hand, I think most of my reserve TOMC teas are small quantities. Make I should work on finishing them off.
sipdown! I am relaxing this evening by watching a few shows and having a couple of good solid cups of tea to finish off a couple samples. I’m pretty proud of myself for getting to under 200 teas this weekend AND resisting buying tea from butiki and tealux – two things i had told myself i could do if i got to under 200. But I am trying to hold out until the end of November. Terri and i have to stay strong!
I really love this tea. It’s one of those teas that i would order again just to have around for when the mood struck. thanks so much to dexter for sharing this one with me! love it!
I also had a cup of this earlier today after my puerh time. I needed something lighter and refreshing and totally different than the previous teas. It also helps that this is one of my older teas (though by “old” i mean 7? months). I’m still trying to work on sipping things down AND finishing off the older teas. I’m pretty excited that i only have 5 teas left from January of this year, and two of those are puerhs, so they hardly count heh.
This tea is still delicious and creamy but now that i’ve had a number of other teas, i’m dropping the rating just a little since Mandala’s milk oolong is pretty darn delicious compared to this one :)
had this again this afternoon after i finally got tired of the two puerhs i spent the afternoon enjoying. I have a sneaking suspicion this may end up at kitenna’s house before too long as she seems to have enjoyed it more than us. there’s something about it that i just can’t get behind. It’s lovely, but not the tea for me anymore.
Also drinking this one today….. First steep reminds me of old woods that have just had rain.
Later steeps are even more enjoyable. I can see where people pick up on sweeter and spicier notes. Having fun drinking this throughout the afternoon. Not many sipdowns today but some really enjoyable time with 2 puerhs.
Drinking this one today….should be a fun time. First steep reminds me of old books. (Hey no one said this would be a good tasting note…more to come)
Really enjoying the later steeps of this one. There are earthy notes here, but it’s kind of like tasting a wet forest. looking forward to more steeps.
