drank Pink Flamingo by DAVIDsTEA

This is like drinking a cup of sunshine! It is an instant reminder of the springtime and flowers and heat to come. The deep flamingo-pink colour of the tea is just as refreshing and energizing as the citrusy grapefruit smell. I can’t believe there is no grapefruit in here – how could there not be??

I brought this tea to work with me on an overnight shift and it gave me a nice caffeine-free energizing boost at 5am. I didn’t find the taste to be too tart at all – I thought it was perfect just the way it was with no sugar needed. I was a little bit hesitant about drinking it hot because it only seems to make sense to drink it iced, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I also improvised a small glass of iced-tea by adding a packet of sugar and some ice cubes (which was all I could find at work) and it was even more delicious! I can only imagine what it would taste like iced when prepared properly!

The onnnly downside is that this tea does not last long due to the fact that 2tsp are needed for one cup, so you don’t get as much bang for your buck. But it is delicious :)

drank Toasted Walnut by DAVIDsTEA

This tea is just all around amazing at every stage in the process, from smelling the dry leaves in the store to curling up at home with a big cup of it. It absolutely does smell like freshly baked cookies with hints of coconut and pineapple mixed in – makes it hard to wait patiently while it steeps.

The taste is perfect. It comes out as a naturally sweet green tea with an aftertaste of toasted nuts and a feeling of baked goods in the distance – for someone who is not a fan of nutty teas, don’t be scared of this one! Once I get my hands on a cup of this, I can’t take them off. Sipping it warms me from head-to-toe and makes me want to curl up on the couch and relax for a long long time with a good book or movie.

I’m not a finicky tea-steeper, so I’ve left in in my Timolino travel mug for a few hours at school and I still find it as tasty as ever. For those who are though, I would recommend not steeping it for more than 5 minutes to avoid the slightly-bitter-green-tea-effect.

Mmmmm.

drank Organic The Skinny by DAVIDsTEA

This tea is perfect for sipping when I don’t feel so skinny or after I’ve overindulged shamelessly. Tonight, the culprit: a large order of sushi kept all to myself. The Skinny stepped in to save the day and helped to relieve my after-binge bloating and guilt.

The taste is refreshing, clean, and light. There is a real earthy base to this tea (must be the pu-erh or oolong – I’m not sure what they taste like separately) with a nice burst of citrus to make things interesting. Like others have said, this is not necessarily a go-to tea that I crave, but it is still really tasty and perfect with or after a nice filling meal.

Also, I have yet to try re-steeping it, but I have heard many people say that it works quite well with this one.

Hidden talent of this tea: soothing my stomach ache and clearing away my nausea last night – I let it steep a little bit overtime to really get the effect of the spearmint. Plus the wonderful added bonus of majorly helping me de-stress right before bedtime. Exactly what I needed :)

drank Fantasy Island by DAVIDsTEA

Like others before me experienced, my 25g of this taste of paradise did not last me long and I had to return for a tin. I’m now craving the sweet taste of this tea in the morning, afternoon, and evening and I’m beginning to worry about becoming too attached to a seasonal DTea! I experimented with re-steeping this one and it turned out just as tasty as the first time – I could taste the flavours more because the black tea taste wasn’t as strong.

Love. Love. Love.

On second steep, I really like this tea! I used the 1.5 tsp in a small teapot and let it steep a little bit longer and it came out perfect – not as strong as the first time. The raspberry is definitely there and comes out as the tea cools. The smell of raspberry also hits you nicely when you smell the tea before sipping. This yummy rich tropical tea warms me up and makes me think of the beach – perfect.

So I’m not sure exactly what I think of this tea, but I must say that it’s growing on me more and more as I drain my first cup. At first I could only taste strong black tea and sweet coconut (or baked goods), but as it cools down the raspberry is really coming through. I think for the next cup I will need to steep it for less time and I am tempted to try it iced…hmmm…

I’m ready to be swept away!

I am going through an extremely difficult time in my life and this is absolutely my go-to tea. I don’t mind if it is pure placebo effect or not, but the St-John’s Wort and black current blend really helps me to keep my spirits up to fight my demons during the day.

It is a strong black tea, so be careful to not oversteep it. For those who prefer tea sweetened, add a dash of honey but I don’t find that it needs anything else. The winter DavidsTea collection is fading away so I have to stock up now to help keep my mood up for the months to come.
