1711 Tasting Notes
I’m getting mystery fruit flavors when sipping this tea, but also something that I can’t quite put my finger on. Almost like a mineral taste. It is a little less noticeable on the sip when sweetened, but still lingers in the aftertaste. It is striking me as a little boring, but I can see it being delicious iced!
Edit: The funny taste was my kettle! It had been a while since I rinsed it out and the minerals must have built up. Poor tea taking the blame!
Preparation
It is mint, with a touch of bergamot in the sip and aftertaste. It is nice and very smooth, but I keep expecting more. Maybe if I added sugar and had it iced? As it cools, the bergamot comes out more. Right now, unimpressed.
Preparation
I’m having this chilled today with a little sugar and a bit of cream! I was surprised at the low steeping temp, but it seems to work! The chocolate comes through for sure, but the hazelnut is a little more hidden for me. Nutella is my go to hazelnut/chocolate association and this isn’t nearly as bold as that. It is still really good and I look forward to trying more of it.
Thanks for the sample Barbara!
Preparation
So close to a sip down on this! I’m not sure if I will buy it again in my next order or take a bit of a break from it. I drank it today without sugar and it wasn’t as enjoyable. It still had that starchy richness and nice base, but something is missing without the sweet.
Thanks goes out to Greenteafairy for a sample if this tea!
This tea is smooth and rich, yet has a light caramel flavor. I’m not tasting much of the tea base here, just the caramel. It reminds me a bit of MF’s Wedding Imperial which is impossibly difficult to brew a perfect cup of. This tea is much more forgiving in the brewing department and lacks the bitterness that Wedding Imperial is prone to. I like this tea, but probably not enough to buy a tin of it.
Preparation
This tea is… weird. I had it hot the other night and I’m having it iced today and there is something that was really strange both times. I was really wanting a chocolate coconut combination and liked ROT’s Banana Chocolate fairly well, so I thought this was a safe bet. I like that it is low in caffeine, since I need more evening options. Maybe it is the chicory root that is making this strange for me? I don’t hate it, but I’m not sure that I’m liking it either.
Preparation
Much better steeped at a lower temp! I did 205 this time. I’m getting a bit of the chocolate in a familiar Lupicia base with the light taste and astringency of chestnut. I’m feeling like chestnut is better suited with green teas because of the lighter flavor and feel of the base, but chocolate is better on a black base. But chocolate and nuts are so good together! I guess that leaves me conflicted, but that won’t stop me from drinking the rest of this cup and enjoying the rest of this bag!
Preparation
Okay, cold brewed? Wow! This is really good as a cold brewed tea! It is bright, fruity, citrusy and delicious. There is a lot of lemon grass that takes over this cup and it reminds me of two other teas that it is very similar too that I also enjoyed! I’m liking it!
Thanks again VariaTEA!
The bag smells so much like bergamot that it is almost pine like! This was a free sample with my last order. I’m starting to have mixed feelings about these free samples. Last time I had to have more of their Momoko and placed another order. Wow, this is overpoweringly strong! What did I do?! It does have a very fresh tang, like fresh rose petals. Adding sugar and soy milk is making it much more palatable. It is a very bright and floral tasting tea! I’m not a huge EG fan, but I’m really enjoying this one!
Preparation
From reading the ingredients I didn’t think I was going to like this tea. When I took a sip I got lemon, pepper and smokiness! Very interesting! Almost like smoked paprika with a hint of lemon. This is a much more savory tea than I am used to, but I’m really liking it!
